I enjoyed this very much. You captured the awakening of a new day in subtle and clear language.
Congratulations on the Spotlight. A very clear choice.

Mauve is marvy - this pastoral piece was beyond the present cacophony of words and worthy of so much more than I could add - well done!

Re: Sky Crier
The descriptions of dawn are so grand that it's impossible not to feel a spark of life from this and want to get up and feel the world coming alive. It's better than any alarm clock, that's for sure!
You've used just a touch of personification in this one, lines 5 through 8 are a particularly strong example of adding colour and character with that approach, and I thought the use of birdsong to add some sound to the moment also worked well to play on another one of the senses.
A really enjoyable read, congratulations on the spotlight.

Hi Sue...this was definitely a piece more than worthy of the Spotlight my friend! It's quite a different piece from you recently, and well it's truly beautifully written as most of your writing's are....I loved the reference to "mauve" and "salmon" quite unique....CONGRATULATIONS! Musie
