Fiddle.

Post by xBloodyxgemx » December 13th, 2013, 2:57 pm

You play me like a fiddle, your fingers brushing over my strings, then hovering as you make me wait, force to me ask for it, beg for it. You smile, the jaded flamethrower smile that I love and fear, then you begin to make me sing the song that is just for you. You push me beyond what I know, beyond what I dreamed, beyond all lines of good taste and good sense.

You play me like a drum, the pounding hurts sometimes, but I like it. I can hear your ragged breathing as you beat on me, I can feel myself coming undone under your gentle, brutal love. I can feel the rhyme in my chest, in my blood, bones, and other places better left unnamed.

You play me like a guitar, intimate, knowing, so sure of every single next step. You press me close to your chest, you whisper how much you need me as your voice, how only I can help you express yourself. You always take all the credit however, for what I helped you say, you narcissist

You play me like a piano hunched over me, your fingers gliding, flying, guiding me to our next step, our next choice, the next crossroad. My cries are passionate, they echo in my mind and yours long after you stop playing. Maybe it's strange but for right now, I am content to be only your instrument, but nothing between us is static, so someday, the roles will flip.

I loved the exaggerated notion of wanting to be manipulated...the desire to be known beyond our own control...to have someone take us up as an instrument and make us operate in ways we cannot operate ourselves...isn't love great? Isn't it awesome that there are some functions we cannot achieve without help? At least, not to the degrees you describe! Steamy! - dew

hey girlie! Missed you and our chats! Glad to see you around again. And I absolutely love this. The metaphor is beyond well done and I found myself wishing I knew someone who could do the same so easily. To have a connection like that...

Thanks for posting it and for sticking around.

The extended metaphor is brilliant, it made me smile from ear to ear because of what it tells the reader. There's enough frustration and mock annoyance at the power this person has because of how weak it seems to make the narrator feel to be so pliable, but there's a knowing wink behind that sentiment as she accepts it simply is what it is, and is much more fun than having someone who couldn't play them at all!
A nice twist in the ending too, knowing how much fun she will have when the boot is on the other foot!

I really like the playfulness / cheerfulness in the tone of this piece.
And the "threat" of karmic retaliation in the final line.

Marvelous missive BG and you definitely brought this home. Just hoping you can turn the tables when the time comes - but then you do seem to be in complete control, if just barely, cheers and much enjoyed!

It was very creative for the Narrator to become different musical instruments for the lover to play. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight. To communicate the feeling each instrument had was clever and presented well enough to keep the reader engaged.

Seems like you're only content with being the instrument because of your desire for role reversal. To make the musician feel what it is to be the instrument, and not because of some weird act of manipulative domination either, but because if they only knew what it was like they might thank you for the experience. I thank you for this one.

Fantastic crafting. Being played willingly, as you've described is an emotional stimulant giving a feel of a natural intoxication. Another tasty treat from you :) Also, the musical instruments/ metaphors used are brilliant, and I especially loved the last line... as it punched the idea across. Bravo!!
