the blind man's gift

Post by Lortimer » August 6th, 2015, 3:42 pm

an
evergreen's branches
curled around and warmed
an old blind man

who stared into
the eternal void
between his eyes
and the empty blue sky

his toes curled into the soil,
roots digging deeper
a blind man's tears
watered the darkness

his skin began to crackle,
the blind man began to starve

he breathed in the cosmos,

and found God
in himself

“I soon realized that poets do not compose their poems with knowledge, but by some inborn talent and by inspiration, like seers and prophets who also say many fine things without any understanding of what they say.”

Nice write! Reminded me of the lyrics, 'was blind, but now I see'. When one finds peace with himself, it is a godly gift.

Sounds like quite the revelation after complete surrender
to the crackling skin and starvation. I've had a possibly
similar experience without that much tragedy going on,
but lots of giving up. I liken it to popping out the other
side.....

excellent, lortimer.....drew

You know Lortimer, reading stuff like this makes me so aware
of the limits I have in my own creativity (but I'm learning from guys like you)...
This is so far above my rational, reasoning way of understanding things
that I can't quantify it (or box + label it)...
Nice!!

'stared into
the eternal void '

My favourite lines. Here was a poem with a tone of the ethereal and the mystical, yet inspired by the humanity of realism ('eternal void' of the world). Obviously a lot of thought went into this to execute such beautiful flow between the stanzas. It is no surprise or wonder this made it into the spotlight. Many congratulations.

So beautiful, deep, The blind man might well see(k) truth and the tears of the blind man might well be
a stream of awareness. Leaves room for thoughts, great write!

Beautifully rendered and so touching. God is within each of us and finding him is always a unique experience. I loved it. Peace, V
