The Abyss

Fears grow
The light recedes
The void expands
Evil breeds

straightforward pointed elegant piece. You capture the fading hope and gathering dark in your words leaving the reader grasping for light.

This was compelling. It reminded me of sink holes in a way , a real life event, and yet it could indicate also a dark emotional happening in one's life..Thought provoking and interesting...Tangie..

Darkness always has and always will be the breeding ground for fear. Something about not know exactly what's there and the lack of reassuring light to comfort us as our curiosity peaks. This is horror poetry's core, stripped of everything else, it always comes back to this. I think the lack of further imagery or drawn out explanations makes this even creepier.

spot on observation of the relationship between fear and darkness...dark doesn't breed fear, fear breeds darkness! Yoda had that one right for sure! I love when the content hits on something profound that is commonly misunderstood. Thanks for setting that record straight!

Excellent! Love the minimalism in the form as well as the amazing imagery.

Such great word choice too (increasing: grow, expands, breeds) (negativity: fears, void, evil)

Dear Myrthe,

This has a heart-attack pace, from the title through to the last. It reminds me how quickly the darkness can advance - it does not waste time in rationalization and justification.

Dark indeed,
T.

Direct... a short and a bittersweet angle of rhyme, sometimes it looks like I'm in the middle of it. NICE1 - Falstaff

This made me think of the subconscious. That if we let things like fear fester, we may create demons to haunt us. The conscious mind is an island in a sea of subconscious. Always a pleasure to read you allmirth.

Your ten words covered a lot of territory. Fear leads to darkness. The abyss defines a chaotic dark space where evil breeds. It is devoid of light, symbolic for truth and goodness. Just thinking of light makes me feel peaceful. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight.
