Behold this land of ancient beauty and wonder
Golden peaks above emerald forests hover
Deep gorges carved by crystalline waters
A sprawling landscape ripe with adventure
A sanctuary removed from the ordinary
Untarnished, surreal, pristine and pure
The very essence of all I adore
Within heart, soul, and memory to endure
It is here I confine my spirit
Weary of the outside world
Away from its cruelty and woes
Free of its heartaches and sorrows
Yet, this calming air I have grown to love
Now blows with an unfamiliar touch
A wild caress rides on these new winds
Something, someone lingers within
As quickly as it came
The turblence subsides
And an eerie stillness arrives
To see is to believe
Yet my eyes deceive
For this must be a dream
Who can this stranger be?
Atop this lofty mountain high
Standing under cerulean skies
She appears with wintry onyx eyes
A sight nothing short of paradise
An eidolon of Isis reveals herself
With an elegant, dazzling display
Here to rekindle these banished bones
And wisk my apprehensions away
My heart races like the roaring rapids
As she gleefully meanders my way
Then the beatings suddenly cease
As she smiles as brightly as the day
She has braved my fortress of forests
And scaled my summits of solitude
Paralyzed in my sheer disbelief
My every thought and word subdued
This sanctuary of sand and stone
My palace of peace overthrown
Yet I forgive her trespasses
For she is the visage of Venus
The mountains manifest her magic
The forests weave her fabric
The rivers run through her veins
The winds whisper her name
She dances as a gypsy
In the cool summer showers
While blooming upon her head
A radiant crown of flowers
Her face bears the beauty of the earth
Her hazel hair frolics with the breeze
Her lips part to a voice so soothing
Angelic music to put me at ease
On her hands
The signs of daring
Callused and hardened
Yet gentle and caring
With these hands
She shapes her destiny
To craft her art
And push the boundaries
In sheer admiration, I bear witness
To her graceful bravery
She ascends to the craggy heavens above
Intrepid and unwavering
The valleys echo with her joyous laughter
As she sights another climb to conquer
I must pursue and vie to discover
The secrets of a majestic life lover
In her soul burns a lively fire
A passion for life to awe and inspire
Compelled to follow farther and higher
Her embrace becomes my longing desire
Every danger she renders hollow
Every daunting challenge she perseveres
Instilled within me, her way of life
To excel, ascend, and cast aside all fear
When all the journeys have been taken
And all the sights have been savored
I will seek her again
For she is the grandest adventure
Nymph of nature
Woman of the wild
Muse of the mountains
Mother earth's own child
I hold within my heart and soul
The words she spoke that fateful day
A wisdom to last a lifetime
"Feel the fear and do it anyway"

Beautifully and creatively composed, with a masterful use of language and imagery-- most delightful and much enjoyed.

I am not sure I managed to fully savor this poem but I very much enjoyed remembering climbing Mr.Fuji just the other day. Please excuse me to put an link to the photos taken at sunrise from the top: https://www.instagram.com/p/B1nWHI7gL2J

Re: Muse of the Mountains
beautiful work. my favorite, being a mountain dancer myself is:
"She dances as a gypsy
In the cool summer showers
While blooming upon her head
A radiant crown of flowers"
