Ra-Ho-Wa

Post by .Nameless. » June 8th, 2013, 12:10 am

Felt this was the best place for this. If a mod thinks of somewhere better, go for it. Just let me know.
=======================================================================================
WAR!
WAR!
War against the people!

Fight the heathens on their home ground,
Infiltrate and desecrate their sacred mound.
White is the devil and I know him well,
White are his filthy Legion from Hell.
Innocence is both a lie and a truth,
Dismantle the pillars to take down the roof.
Crush the women and children with deceit and hate,
Leave their bodies to a horrible fate:
To be devoured by the great war machine:
God.

WAR!
WAR!
War of the people!

Watching in horror as they destroy our home,
Thinking they’ve forced us to live on our own.
But they don’t realize pain gives us strength,
Inspiring a war of unknown length.
We possess the power of the sun,
We hold it to their heads like a gun,
Threatening the life of generations to come;
If we fire, the monster we will become.
The gates of Eden close as the whole world shouts:
RA-HO-WA!

I had to do some research on this to understand what Ra-Ho-Wa means and symbolizes. It means Racial-Holy-War. This is a very powerful write about anger. I am not sure of your stance here about this rock group or is it about what is symbolizes here of the concept of the white supremacist concept. Very different type poem than the usual postings I read here. I do feel this is a provocative write in the sense of what you are trying to make the reader of this write feel to some degree. Very well written in my opinion. Nicely done!

War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing... Sorry, couldn't resist quoting James Brown there :D
Just following on from Victor's comment, there are a few elements of this which make it quite edgy, beyond the rational concern about the devestation caused by any kind of war, as it hints at a battle between people based on race.

Interesting, different. "WAR!
WAR!
War of the people!" That part made it seem like sort of a battle cry, or at least to me. Great poem.

Thank you all for your comments. It's much appreciated. This is one of the poems that I went back and edited recently. The entire 2nd stanza is new, and I'm glad too see that I didn't go wrong with it.
