V1:
Your watercolors, cover all
the chipping paint and cracking wall.
We talk amidst the smell of pho,
from the restaurant below.
We share our dollars; We save our thoughts,
in fragments and mosaic jots,
on paper scattered 'cross
the hardwood floor.
C: (x2)
Day old bread, and coffee, hot,
we share this destiny we've wrought.
Day old bread, and coffee, hot.
V2:
We walk across, the dewey grass, of early onset fall.
I notice that the birds no longer seek the shade at dawn.
Many souls have trekked this very part of Sutton park,
but I feel a pivot coming, and I fear it won't be long.
I say to you: I should have worn a coat or stayed inside,
you say you think the breeze is kind of nice.
You say that feeling cold, once in awhile, is good for your mind;
yeah, feeling cold is good at times.
C: (x2)
Day old bread, and coffee, hot,
we share this destiny we've wrought.
Day old bread, and coffee, hot.
B:
Moving, moving,
shifting, soothing,
up the steps and to our home.
The sanctuary,
where we gather,
weary but atoned.
Comfort me, my lady,
with the wisdom you have sown.
no misgivings,
when we're sacredly alone.
C:
Day old bread, and coffee, hot,
we share this destiny we've wrought.
Day old bread, and coffee, hot.
We share this destiny,
We share this destiny we've wrought.

Re: Coriander
"A song about my favorite herb/spice?" I thought and though it's not it somewhat is as your lyrics speaks of something/someone who is an additive that enhances your flavor... well to me at least.
I get a "Sixpence none the richer" vibe from this one.

"no misgivings,

That quote is where you got me. Great song, poet. I'd love to hear it.
