Dew,
I cannot add any other words to describe that of your write that would not repeat those already written above. Yes, the repetition of "my fault" really brought forth the inner self-guilt the author is feeling. I had a four footed friend that lived 20 years I finally had to have her put down. Gosh what a tug of war on my heart. To this day, I think of her and tear up. Two footed or four footed, friend are friends. To feel responsible for their demise is a great burden. Your have graciously presented us your agony in a profound poetic fashion. A pleasure to read!
Joanne

Thanks all for your comments...it is a true story. My cousin Robbie was hit by a car in front of me...it really was my fault because I was yelling at him to hurry ahead while I was messing with the bike chain. I realize now though that I was only 13 and couldn't predict what would happen. He was not a dog, he was a human being.

Thanks again for all these nice remarks...Dew

One of my favourite spotlight pieces, felt so real

"I wouldn’t want you to want
To be wanted by me
I wouldn’t want you to worry
That You'd be drowned within my sea
I only wanted to be wonderful
And wonderful is true
In truth I only really wanted
To be wanted by you"

Don't really know what to write..... this made me feel sad and numb, especially your comment about Robbie being your cousin. So I shall just send you some love from a stranger/potential friend?

The first study for the poet is knowledge of himself. One must be a seer. The poet becomes a seer through a long, immense & reasoned derangement of all the senses. All shapes of love, suffering, madness. He searches himself, he exhausts all poisons, to keep only the quintessences..Arthur Rimbaud

Oh, I'm late! But Congratulations Dew on the deserved Spotlight!
This is such a fine neat work! As you can take a message from between lines, and definitely grabs the reader and stirs the emotions.
Great poem!
