Forever Tomorrow

Post by ravendown » April 23rd, 2012, 12:55 am

Unreachable, stretching all imaginations
as memories and the past gets dragged along
teasing and taunting,
full of "what if" and "only so long"

A path curved of pebbles and dust,
carving through mountain of stone
a horizon never quite reached
and thoughts all my own

Heaven casts a shadowed hue
under the light of stars
staring into nothingness
and forever within a single gaze

From hilltop to valley floor,
traveller wanders onward
trips and stumbles
skin reveals flesh on bone
looking upward, begging skyward

Chasing dreams and inspiration
amongst shadows and light
a question upon lips,
pursued by his quest of tomorrow

I loved you then, I love you still though we are shadows of our former glory
Though they try to kill us off, we are a never-ending story

I've enjoyed this OM especially the second verse.

You take the reader on a journey with you, your words make it so easy to really feel it and fall into the picture. Strong, emotive imagery that holds firmly throughout the piece. A superb piece of OM.. I felt quite akin to some of this, the questioning traveller of life, constantly persued by the past.

Ace work!

Lily^^

Creatively composed, with lovely use of language and descriptive imagery, beautifully expressed and much enjoyed.

I enjoyed the poem...a journey of the soul...never arriving...we want serenity, so priceless. Thank you for sharing

"staring into nothingness
and forever within a single gaze-" what a beautiful line! and a beautiful idea too. It reflects the insecurity and the triumphs and everything in between that we all deal with on this journey so well. For me, this is also a reminder to live in the moment too. Maybe we spent too much time "chasing inspiration".... just a thought. Hats off to Ravendown. Wonderful descriptions too, well done

Ok wow - I loved this! I love how it starts out with “what if” and “only so long” and then the ending pursuing the quest of tomorrow was such a great way to wrap it up and also remind me that fate is also of my making…. Really well done and thank you for sharing!
