Morning

Post by rayjones » December 20th, 2012, 12:10 pm

Morning

Eyelids stuck and crusted tight
Against the night charred brow.
Dream birds flutter and take flight
banned from the earth for now.

Warm beneath my sheets
I pry from their embrace.
For the day entreats,
I must go and take my place.

But some new thing is calling
just beyond my familiar plane,
Possibility, creeping crawling
Be it loss or be it gain?

Teasing all my senses
it shifts like living sand
testing my defenses;
Do I dare to take its hand?

Is a door now swinging
bidding me to enter in,
some new voice gently singing
or some new deadly sin?

Once dressed my mind is made
Across dew beaded grass I go,
Through dread and hope I wade
plowing through the temporal flow.

How you litterally walk us through the waking process is well done, you really manage to control the speed of awakening with the imagery, metaphor and rhyme, as well the final image is inviting and uplifting simultaneously, well done and a late welcome to TPS, meadow

mornings are the bane of my existence but i love how you took into account how all possibilities become new at the beginning of the day. whatever you decide will give you your fate.

I exhibit many of these symptoms on many mornings. A good prom to be sure.

The imagery here is really striking. 'Dream birds flutter' captured my attention and I was really interested to keep reading. I completely identify with the feeling too- the sense of fear and expectation that comes with the start of a new day. The balance of hope and dread is interesting too. Very real and honest. I really like this. Well done, rayjones
