Welcome to TPS!
I have to say, even with the emotive ending, this is a beautiful piece of reminiscing poetry. The motif of the purple quilt served as a symbol of childhood memories, in some ways like a comfort blanket, and a form of protection from the world to inspire confidence. It went hand in hand with a mother's love.
The final stanza added a twist to things, without losing any of the appeal that the quilt once held.
Well penned.

Dearest Wilopent77, this is a beautiful piece and reminded me of my own security blanket. Thank you for
that and a warm welcome to TPS.

Much Love,
ladylynnmary

The progression of this poem, how it went from feelings of protectiveness and tenderness to having slightly dark undertones, was interesting. Still, you laid out this piece in a convincing manner and wrote it well. Nicely done.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to keep only the good memories of childhood and throw the rest away? Excellent poem.

Hello Wilopent, great images, a lovely write, the memories of the good time made even more poignant by the sad ending. Thanks for sharing.

The ending of this made me look back at the rest of the poem with new eyes, the colour of the quilt, your mother's actions, those exciting experiences,it made me look at everything and wonder and question.

Make fellow poets happy and comment on their poems.
