Bridge
is named
Golden Gate.
San Francisco’s
ocean waves leap high.
Designer’s reaching dream
nudges against nature’s force
with city, sky, and bay to boast,
on Pacific’s coast, south of Marin.
The tourists flock in like forty niners
with frontier doors to a western port.
This noted landmark attraction,
welcomes the photographers
who tour California.
Daily commuters
jam together,
course over
the Bay
and
peek
thru fog’s
chalky mist,
sight the tower,
a giant who greets
approaching vehicles.
As folks eye the massive form,
it proffers guidance with its stance,
ushers in sun’s rays to beam the way.
Travelers nestle between each muscled arm.
Wheels roll along its bold orange stride.
Bay tides swell, wash and rip beneath.
Fog burns off as gulls flash by.
Angel Island beckons,
as Alcatraz squats,
defunct prison
near Giant’s
Golden
Gate.

Re: Two Spans Pictured
I really enjoyed this and the crafty way of forming the peaks with words. Wonderful, I could picture everything in my mind.
Thank you for sharing.

Re: Two Spans Pictured
Great style. Probably sounds egotistical coming from me, but I love it when form mirrors meaning

Dear John1967,
Thank you for stopping by. I'm glad my efforts with the peaks worked. It sounds like you have been over the Golden Gate Bridge!

Dear Jack137,
Your input is much appreciated. I'm guessing you have gone across Golden Gate Bridge as well. I think having the actual experience carries the reader. It is a 'cool' experience.

Dear Alan,
If I had the skills I would have had it go across the page rather than down, but I agree with you that I like it when the form mirrors the meaning. Thank you for your input.

Never over it just seen the bridge from a distance on a business trip once. It was your descriptive writing that made it so.Josie wrote:Dear John1967,

Thank you again.
