Sky Crier

The crashing silence of the Dawn
springs forth in soft decrepit steps
to land upon my windowsill, like
pouncing moggy on the prowl.
She sweeps away the piles of dark
bunched here and there in thunder-heads,
tinting their tossed and frothy tops
with mauve and salmon casted threads.
Then heralds she the coming day with
aria of Cardinal calls, spent on the beat
with Mourning Doves and cruelest cries
of Raven beak. Until cacophonously
roused, I fall from out the holding sheets,
with tousled hair and sleepy eyes
new risks to take, new treasures seek. Last edited by

Thank you AMD and Rosella, I appreciate your kind words , but mostly the fact you saved a bit of your precious time and shared it with me. What a gift that is.

That was so beautiful, and taking an everyday thing like dawn and birds, and putting it together with those words of eloquence that I can only dream of being able to use. It was inspiring and calming at the same time. Thank you.

Paralee, thank you for your visit and lovely words of comment, but most of all for sharing your time and yourself with me. That means a great deal.

You have taken my every morning and painted it with a unique and beautiful stroke. The lines
"She sweeps away the piles of dark
bunched here and there in thunder-heads,
tinting their tossed and frothy tops
with mauve and salmon casted threads."
were filled with such lovely imagery that I want to wake up early tomorrow just to see the sun rise. I love the personification you have utilized in this piece.

Ladywildalice - Now that's a wake up call for ya. And a beautiful poetic one at that whose visuals grab ya. Nice work indeed Ladywildalice. Enjoyed. Namyh

This was gorgeous, Ladywildalice, just gorgeous! I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this here in the Spotlight - a well-earned honor, indeed, dear!

How did I miss this one the first time? Maybe it was hidden on a board I didn't get a chance to visit often. Anyway here was my second chance and I'm so glad I got a chance to read it! Such beautiful language as always, I must say I love the ending on this one. The positve note you ended on, and it reminded me of someone who had not had a truly restful night of sleep in a long time, and now she finally wakes rested and ready to face the day. Just simply beautiful! Congtarulations on the spotlight pick of the week, it is truly much deserved!

It seems I missed this one also the first time. You paint a vivid , most beautiful sunrise, accompanied by the music of morning. Congratulations on a well deserved Spotlight.
As ever, thanks so much for sharing.

All of you who have graced me with your words of comment and your time shared have created a memory for me. Thank you seems like so trivial a response, but it is all I can come up with. Just know that those two words, "thank you" are covered in diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and set in 24k gold. Truly
