Sorrowful Maiden

Post by Rainman » October 3rd, 2013, 11:16 am

Pack up your floaty dresses
and your otherworldly air,
put away your pale complexion
and your gestures of despair.

No handsome vampire comes to call,
no prince leaves you folorn,
there are no stolen kisses
nor sweet partings at the dawn.

You do not languish by the stream
beneath a willow tree,
and your name is not Morgana
it is Sallyanne McGee.

As one who has ethereal days and owns several floaty numbers I had to laugh at myself through your poem, well judged. Now I have some languishing to do mx

Too many live in a fantasy world in their own minds. Convincing yourself that you are something other than what you truly are will lead you down a road to misery and painful confrontation eventually. Unfortunately, some poor minds and souls, never are able to see their confused plight. We are all JUST who we are. And once we accept that we CAN be the best version of ourselves by being truthful, joyful, accepting, encouraging, sharing, caring, and educated, we will find our lives become much more fulfilling. Excellent write and Congrats on the Spotlight.

I loved the lyrical rhythmic flow of the poem. One small point ... who is this Sallyanne McGee ? I've googled, yahood and ask'd ... Is she a 'pigment of your imagination' - whatever, you've painted a pretty good picture of her. Thanks a lot.

In friendship,
Eric.

This made me think of my own self in times when I used all these Things in my own thoughts.

This was a delightful moment of reading, Narrator's tone was perfect, like a mother or a grandmother trying to snap the daydreamer back to reality. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight.
