An Ember To Remember

Post by Zojourn » December 13th, 2013, 4:25 am

An Ember To Remember

Going back to those dry summer mornings
My Grandfather and I would sneak into an indigenous pond
Despite the knowing, yet un-posted warnings
Through a backwoods entry, where no one could respond

My early youth was filled with such adventure
Pole and tackle, we would boast on who held the preamble
For the most and biggest bass caught in their tenure
And who's favorite spot and lure would set the example

Unfortunately life had to persist
And those memories became mere moments in time
My rite to adulthood had become synonymous with a cyst
However he would be proud, and they will forever be mine

Reminds me of my fishing days when I was younger or even just riding around in the truck with Papa. Now that I'm older, the dynamic between us is different but I still thank him in my mind everyday for the times when he gave me candy, put chickens on my head, or even when we went to see Santa Claus. You sort of horde those memories.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Chelle. Yes we do horde them, they are cherished material of our inner fabric and being.

Zo - Just loved this trail back to your youth. Such sweet memories
we never imagined at the time would become such and so.....
I have them too....we all do.....videos that faded into snap shots

Makes me cry if I think too long about it. Life is so far from what
we wish it should be, and yet enough is won that the losses become
survivable, and we push on.....

And oh, the title said it all!

really enjoyed.....Drew
