Dragon

Post by gypsyrose » November 9th, 2014, 9:14 pm

In winter's mist, the magic swirled,
as darkness descended on the earth,
reflected in water, a Dragon's birth.

His scales glistened of red and gold,
his eyes sparkled green and bold,
his mystical beauty touched my soul.

His mighty wings unfurled for flight,
'twas such a wondrous sight,
to watch his twist and turns in the night.

As his wings danced in silent waves,
his solitary stare captured my gaze,
his power and presence held absolute sway,
as I awaited my fate.

Then, down he swooped through the air,
seemingly without a care,
and I wonder how I would fare.

Towards me he came,
softly calling my name,
his snout ablaze with his flame.

As he landed on the snow,
He said I am friend not a foe,
Come, let us go.

Flapping his wings we did rise,
up, up into the sky,
eyes shining bright,
having never known such delight.

Do you know what I'm thinking? No. Neither do I; Frightening, isn't it?

really good job describing your dragon...I could see you two up there!

also enjoyed the rhyme very much...

for when the poem is read aloud, the rhyme helps create the rhythmic sense of dragon flight...

Hi Gypsyrose;
I also like your poem about a mind-pleasing human-dragon friendship. In Chinese culture the dragon doesn't have the fearsome characteristics that we Westerners adhere to dragons. In contrast, the Indonesian Komodo dragon is not only ferocious but poisonous, but that's not what your friend is about, lol. Yours is a wonderful flight of the imagination that I enjoyed reading. Great job. :happyy:

Good one GR - I would have run; you are brave or entranced or both, and I can still see the dragon image as described. Buckle your seat belt now and enjoy the ride, cheers! Good job with the quatrains interspersed with the tercets too!

Thank you all for reading and your kind comments. My animal is the Dragon on the Chinese calendar maybe that's why I love them.

gypsyrose:

WOW! To be a Dragon Lord. To communicate with the mighty beast.and then riding on the wings of magic. What a glorious tale of fantasy! The excitement of flying on a dragon.. Your structure was in great form as well.Overall good work. I liked it very much.

Thanks

Gypsy I thank you for this simple poem about beautiful fantastic creature. It whet my appetite-describing the scene perfectly, without unneeded frills, and it made me wish I could go flying with a dragon friend of my own.
