Laundry

Post by quar009 » October 31st, 2015, 4:32 pm

You know your stories.
You have stacked them up
into neatly folded piles
clean and crisp,
Without a stain of uncertainty.

You live your stories-
one day at a time
coffee spills, dinner fights, blustering winds;
walk in the park, making love under dark.
With each crease, collected lint and lingering scent
You realize-
Your stories don't always unfold the same way.

Good job on a unique theme Quar - how we morph our retellings to jazz up the juicy factor over time. Cheers! - Dan (we all do it, don't we?) Great extended metaphor and title too!

The story always seems to get bigger as it goes along, especially when airing dirty laundry, nice poem, thanks for sharing may God bless

Neat job!! this was fantastic.
The opening stanza is how it would be in an ideal world...
Enter reality in stanza 2.

Dear quar009,
Your first stanza reminded me of how well the Marines trained my husband to do laundry. He made everything look like it was just purchased. He actually enjoyed sorting and folding while he ironed in addition to a number of other hobbies.

I can see how those laundry skills would translate into successful organizational skills for the writer, but clearly we are not all so blessed. I did enjoy your poem.
Josie

Aww, I really enjoyed this one. Such a wonderful take on the path of life we so desperately want to control but in reality can't. Really great poem! :)
