Beware the sleeping dragons
For they are peaceful in their slumber
Hubris indeed
To touch one and risk the thunder
So should just one awake
You shall quickly be reminded
The Fierce, woe the Fierce
Of battles lost and now re-winded

There are certain things that time can't heal, and there are uncountable quandaries giving standing ovations to incalculable procrastinations. Contemplating the struggles within, can grind us to a halt, but when we teach ourselves through the power to act, we recognize that it wasn't our fault. A dragon can be another person, it can be the part of ourselves we don't like, or it can be the grand master of all evil. What and how we fight, is for our character to decide.

This brings to mind the phrase 'don't poke the sleeping bear' only you use dragons which I think is way cooler and more suited to the theme of the poem. I get the idea that this is about something in the past, be a world view of maybe war or some otheer event or a more narrow view within a person/group of people and the reluctance or danger of I guess re-waking the issues as it can just re-ignite/inflame old issues. Yet at the same time, we ourselves can not learn from these issues if we don't wake the dragon so to speak - is it better to wake it or leave it sleeping? Sorry, I tend to ramble when I enjoy a poem, and I really enjoyed this one, something about it just speaks to me. Thanks for sharing

This is good, and I realize this doesn't have a religious connection. I listened to a sermon today though on how false teachers hide in sheep's clothing, so I thought of that. Great work! I think you are referring though to how some things are better left in the past.

Indeed, one has to be very determined if they want to go and slay a dragon. Unless there is good cause and solid reason, it is foolish to play with such deadly powers. Eloquently written, much enjoyed!

This is an inventive metaphor for not letting up one's guard.Yet, it is in fact a terrible way to have to live, for in our short life spans, we all seek a reprieve from fear and uncertainty.Some peoples though will never know solace.I enjoyed the power of your poem..the thought behind it..Congrats to you..Tangie..
