What have we become, corrupting the rest of the world?
Were we always this way, or was it a brainwashed ideal
When I listened to the teacher claim being equal was real?
Yet I found out my kind never stopped getting killed.
I saw how they classified me as someone inferior,
How the best degree couldn’t get me the same job,
How I was supposed to push your shopping carts,
And stay forever away from White women.
The cops make two turns when I cross, to make sure
That I’m still riding my bike or maybe selling dope here.
I’m certain they’d love anything to discover, ensure
I could be hung from a rope, get that promotion near.
We’re feeling a bit rebellious, though, our slave revolt.
You may just need those mace canisters and the sort,
Because we’re speaking up, reaching up.
You can’t hold us down forever long.
White women have never seemed this beautiful.

I enjoyed this write. The last line made me laugh right out loud. For what it's worth, I think education is a powerful weapon. Thank you for sharing

Re: Slave Revolt
:) lol
Education is extremely powerful, especially if used in the right way. What I lamented was that it didn't fit reality. Idealism can lead to ignorance, and then you end up with a bunch of people asking, "Racism, what racism?" instead of seeing everything that happens around us.
I was lucky, though. I received a great education in elementary school, as compared to what I would receive after that. There were incidences where an older version of myself would've noticed discrimination, but I was too young to understand, which was probably better overall. I can't deny that they gave me a powerful base that I've survived off of ever since, and for that I'm thankful.

Re: Slave Revolt
The nation is still in unrest. What is most frustrating to me about the situation is that many people are still clueless and incapable of empathy. I relate from being in the lgbt as a minority group. I often hear its 2016, there isn't too much discrimination in general. They only pay attention when there is a shooting. Even then they think of it as isolated events. Yes there are several isolated events everyday in many lives that white middle America is not exposed to and they are blind to. I don't ever mean to be political on these forums and I abstain when I can, but when Trump is nominated after all the bigotry he has said, it makes me sad what we have put forward as our very best.

I agree with Eddie. Humorous indeed. I know that age old adage; Do you remember that time you p--- me off. Well how are my kids doing? By the way, I just slept with your wife again. Always a pleasure.Eddie strayed wrote:I enjoyed this write. The last line made me laugh right out loud. For what it's worth, I think education is a powerful weapon. Thank you for sharing
