Walking along the sidewalk, she loses concentration
Not paying attention to the small rocks she kicks as she goes
Each one a part of her life she'd rather forget
She doesn't walk forward, her head high, facing life
Instead, her head is down, hoping no one will notice
Somewhere she got lost along the way
Someone might have told her the wrong thing
Now she wonders where she went wrong, hoping to find what she needs
Could she have a second chance?
Maybe she should stop walking and stand still
Waiting for a rescuer never worked
So she kept going, never thinking that she was missing so much
One day she looked up and saw the sun
She remembered the sunlight, how it used to bathe her face
Before she lost her sight
The colors are gone, memories imagined from long ago
Features are shapeless until she reaches out and makes contact
Then the blackness recedes as her hands tell her a story of what she could see
She wonders if they are smiling
Then she feels the lips beneath her fingers and knows they are
Salvation came in the form of a short, brown eyed boy
He walked up to her, and touched her hand, clasping it
Telling her that she would be okay, he turned her world rightside up again
The tears came down and she hugged him, turning her face up again to the light she could feel
The warmth filled her, once again stirring the hope she'd been born with

Re: Led
I love this Chelle. I think that we all get lost, a bit, in the moments, days and years that we rush through, tending to "life" and trying to second guess Fate sometimes. But if we can makes ourselves keep moving forward, and hang on tightly to just a little bit of faith, often, we find our way. This is really a lovely write and so very appreciated. Thank you

Re: Led
You convey the sense of sorrow and hope lost in an almost leisurely manner, timed by the pace of the subject. I loved the enigma of the final verse and the chink of light it brought.
