Sanctuary

Sanctuary

I woke the fireflies today,
against all better judgement,
to count them in their endless constellations.
the ensuing inferno, however,
was much more intriguing;
I preferred to watch the livid little stars burn.

Winter's breath cooled them, in the end,
and, as always, they acted as the martyrs of summer
like little knights set ablaze.
When the world is warmer,
they'll march back into their empty battlefields,
awoken anew.

Perhaps they won’t forgive me this time,
as they inevitably do.
It’s surprisingly infuriating.
Hate me, burn me with you.
But, no.
They ignite in peace once again.

hello,

this poem says to me that you are looking to clear the air by way of hashing it out and then finding closure to an old situation. great metaphors and gorgeous imagery. it is not a good thing to be left teetering on the edge. i hope you find what you need to get on in life and love.

always, Cat
