How the sun and moon came to be

Post by chairmanyang » September 25th, 2017, 1:54 pm

Thought I would take a stab at writing legends and fables here is one I came up with.

Once there was a divine sun king
his dominion was a kingdom in the great sky
where he walked warmth and light
would flood over the land below his kingdom
while he would sleep cold darkness descended

He was a powerful and radiant king
he was however for all his glory and accolades very lonely
One day while strolling through his kingdom
he looked down to the land below
it was then he saw her
A beauty like no other with skin of alabaster
hair like spun gold and eyes blue and haunting
The king descended in a blazing chariot
drawn on by enchanted, winged beasts
He courted the beautiful maiden
told her of a life where she would be worshiped by man
as a goddess in his kingdom

The maiden however, was not bewitched by the kings words or splendor
For she already had given her love to another
A young farmer, who though he wasn't a rich man
he was rich of conscience and was a good man

This enraged the king and he flew back to this palace in the clouds
There he stewed and seethed and plotted
He would have his glorious bride for his will was absolute
that night when darkness had wrapped the world in its loving embrace
He crept down to the land and with swiftness and quiescence
did he abduct the beautiful maiden
He held the maiden in his castle
She was told she may never again return to the land below
the life she once lived was now over
The king allowed her however to roam the kingdom in the sky

Now the maiden she was heartbroken
a prisoner of the harsh and cruel Sun king
He coveted her like a dragon's treasure
She vowed she would never again gaze upon the sun king
So she shut herself away in his citadel and could do naught but weep
Her tears fell from the sky and flooded the valley's
creating vast oceans and rivers
at night she would crawl from her room while her captor slept
She would wander the kingdom and look down
upon the world she longed to return to

She was so beautiful that in the darkness of night she shone with radiant glowing light
her eyes sparkled, lighting up the great sky with a hundred thousand jewels
which even to this day can be seen sparkling in the night sky
while the maiden searches endlessly for the farmer she once loved so dearly.

Let the sky welcome you, for therein dwells the Emperor and his saints.

What a great story. Very nicely done. Lovely story line, nice construct, well delivered, imaginative and touching. What more could one want. Much enjoyed, truly.

Great poem. Oh my, this truly is enthralling and deep. A poem describing a universe created for nothing more than true love through an uncontrollable, unstoppable, and unwitting, after the fact side effect, through an expression of painful love lost. Any conscious creature in this universe, navigating this poem with their heart, gazing the night time sky would surely agree. Always a pleasure. Brad -

P.S. You should be allowed to make your own constellation for writing this!

What a beautiful, if heartbreaking, story! I especially loved the imagery in the last two stanzas - weaving the tale of the maiden with the shining of the stars seems a fitting ending for a starcrossed lover.
