Hungry Eyes

Post by parkayaapravesh » March 15th, 2018, 2:29 pm

You look at me like you want to eat me up

Your slightly tilted eyes, like a slow moving predator's

That seem to grow teeth and salivate
To take a bite out of my flesh

In a face, textured like one, marks of a raging blood

You look like a hoodlum, on a street corner,

But they don't know,
that you have the softest skin..
And the most honest smile..

And you smell like soap, and leather.
And sometimes your touch is so gentle,
Like a careful bear.
Cradling a strand of my hair by your sharp claws.

Your language, crude,
a voice made for barroom brawls,

But they don't know,
Your words catch in your mouth,
When you get nervous,
Your throat works so hard to push them out.

And they don't know, the only time
Your voice flows, deep and honey smooth,
Is when you are pretending I'm the queen,

And time slows down, and you become,
A gentle giant. And you bow down.
And hold me close, and let me smell your warmth.

But what is the use. What is the use of knowing this..

When your promises are empty. The ones you aren't allowed to make. And ones I don't want you keep.

And the only island on which we can live,
Is a mythical one, with your ten heads,
and I, a prisoner of the sea.

And you know, it's an illusion. An empty one.

So, stop.
Looking at me
with your hungry eyes.

Too bad and so sad Parka. Your characterization was a "beauty and beast" personification that captivated this reader. Cheers and welcome to TPS! - Dan

This write sheds light on the sad and sometimes dark realities of the very ironic twist of desires in "What we want is what we don't want". Experience is our only way to perfection. Thanx 4 sharing - Falstaff
