Mélange

Post by Lark » June 27th, 2018, 2:22 am

The world isn´t crying because we have terminal cancer.
The wrong doesn´t right when we rage for appropriate answer.
The cycles roll on,
each fish for its pond;
the joker can touch you and me, Kennedy or Sheikh Mansour.

When years have been kind and it seems sudden shock should be stronger,
philosophy kindles its lamp to illumine the somber.
Those arrows and slings -
whatever they bring,
perspective will argue for reasons to cling to hope longer.

There´s joy in the taste of the now, in the coo of the pigeons,
if only contentment in following rites of religions.
This day, though as brief
as the dew on a leaf,
yet offers potential to savor fulfillment in smidgens.

The world may not clap its hooray at a triumph we garnered;
self-kudos, in face of indifference, to all who reach starward.
In mystery´s den
from beginning to end,
we alternate dark and light as the game carries us forward.

Life is truly a Me'lange to both the thinking and the non-thinking man or woman! Your poetry is "very" descriptive! As I read it several things came to mind. A great spiritual leader named Spencer W. Kimball said, "Never, never, never, give up!" Jesus Christ said, "Seek, and ye shall find; ask, and it will be given you; knock, and it will be open unto you." (Mat 7:7) Once again I found your thinking and your writings refreshing. Thanks for sharing. anthony

This poem certainly presents parts of life that could make us despair or
become bitter: we've got cancer and world doesn't care, cycles that just keep rolling on, nobody
watching our triumphs. But, there is the light, the taste of the now, perspective.
A true melange! Being carried forward through the mystery. Definitely much here for
contemplation. Enjoyed the rhyming scheme as well.
Thanks Lark!

This was a welcomed variety of thoughts. I liked the form, rhyme scheme you used. How true it is to find joy in the taste of now, yet to realize that this day is as brief as the dew on a leaf.
Thanks for sharing.
