Bitter cold edge quietly parting skin
I take heed of the red dripping
Like wine wasted to the floor
Hastily departing, never halting
Till the nausea washes over me
Stealing breath like subtle fae
Coaxing my name from 'twixt
Twisted, pallid wounds
Draped in ebon feathers
As Morrigan takes her fee
All I ask of her, fleeting hope
Was it ever a life
If I never felt alive?

Mmmmmh, this is probably the most subtle kind of treatment you could give to what appears to be the scene of a man bent on taking his own life. That said, the ending is the icing on the cake and hits like a hammer. Well done.

Re: Razor's Kiss
Your mention of the Celtic goddess Morrigan really caught my attention, it pulled me in; how perfect she would make an appearance here. The ending question begs an answer but there is none, I have often pondered the very same and only come up with empty words and vague thoughts lost in eternal fog. Dark and beautifully consuming write!

Thank for sharing. Very descriptive and haunting. To the point. I can relate. The heart may be beating but don't feel alive. Thanks again
