F.A.Q.-How To Post Images

Post by Chelle » April 15th, 2012, 12:27 am

This article references this FAQ.
~~

1) First, you need to upload your picture to an "image host." TPS doesn't host pictures, we only display them. Here are just a few of the free image hosts available online: 2) Once you've uploaded your picture to the web, find the URL (web address) for the pic you want to post here at TPS. This should be a direct link that starts with http://. Sometimes it'll be in the little bar on your web program (and usually it'll end in .jpg or .gif or .png something like that), or the host may have a special button to view the link; if it doesn't, try following these instructions:
--Right-click on the picture.
--On the menu that comes up, click "Properties".
--The window that comes up will have listed the address of the pic.
Highlight and copy that address.

3) Start a new thread or find the thread within which you wish to post the picture. In the posting box, paste the image url that you just copied. Now select (highlight) that url in the posting box and click the Img button above. Your code should now look like this:

Code: Select all

For example:

Code: Select all

Once you click the "Submit" button to make your post, what will be displayed should look like this:

Image

Except the picture displayed will be the one with the URL (web address) that you chose.

Please note that the maximum size for pictures at TPS is 1000px by 1000px. If your picture is larger than that, you should just post the link to the picture so it can be viewed off site.

Example:

Code: Select all

Re: How to post pictures.

In doing a little digging, I've discovered the following line of text from ImageShacks terms. This is in reference to their 'free' accounts which guarantee 99% uptime, as opposed to their Premium (paid) accounts that guarantee 99.99% uptime:

'99% uptime means that each image stored on your account is expected to be unavailable for approximately 7.2 hours per month. Subscribing to our Premium Pro service will reduce this number to less than 5 minutes per month.'

So, even the most up-to-date browser, on the most powerful computer, is still going to see image host failure on freely-uploaded photos 7.2 hours out of every month, from ImageShack (the free service that I use). This is something to consider as a possible reason if you are having a problem viewing a photo that mysteriously is not a problem a short time later.
