A really wonderful piece. The detail came alive with each stanza painting a vivid portrait. Very much enjoyed.

The quiet soft rhythm of this moving poem reminded me of hearing a solitary saxophone in an Army jazz club during the interval, as we quietly yearned for home. We may not have necessarily been drunk, but the melancholy was the same.
A marvellous piece of writing that can only evoke sympathy for those that are unable to cope without the support of alcohol. It fully deserved its Spotlight.

Excellent form in this one really enhances an already strong piece of poetry, the mix of internal and end rhyme is always very distinctive on the ear and makes for a lyrical, melodious read which only serves to enhance the mood. The shift in the latter stanzas from something reminscing to a more lamenting poem is concluded with the painful, poignant final line.
Excellent work, congratulations on the spotlight!

Too young to enter a bar, but I still know how it feels to drown my sorrows in booze... could feel the emotion in this. good work
