The Skeleton Coast

Post by ladymaybebaby » April 20th, 2012, 11:02 am

Lost wandering without a guiding hand
stumbling in sand and bones, along the
skeleton coast; hundreds perished
trapped in cutting sands, or shards of glass.
I was sliced apart either way...

When the heat grilled my body,
my defeated spirit shook in loneliness
white hot rays confused my thoughts
bleached bones now touching my despair.
My road map straight to hell

Darkness now eclipses the sun
as I find defeat amongst the bones
no living soul to mark my grave
I have become part of a forgotten tomb
buried on African shores

Another strongly atmospheric piece, I'm really digging your recent Darkness pieces. The opening stanza stood out for me the most, not only does it firmly set the scene, it envelops the reader in a strong sense of dark foreboding and agony.

Real nice work. It's ever a pleasure.

Lily^^

Wow, this is really quite poignant. I love the final line- it really brings together the entire piece. Well done.

Hi lmbaby ... the world's people have a lot to answer for tragedies and injustices in many places. You've cut this to the bone, making an impact and statement for Africa. I like that the poem grew stronger towards the end:
"as I find defeat amongst the bones
I have become part of a forgotten tomb"

Congratulations for The Spotlight! :thumb:
*hugs, Mystiq x

OMG. You have reached into my heart and the sorrow cut like a knife. OMG. What beauty you have managed to provide while at the same time bringing to light a devastating plight for many. And it's so real it hurts.

I find you to be beautiful at this moment, my dear. Thank you ever so much for sharing the depth of your understanding and the depth of you compassion's.

Love Nancy
