Awake in Starlight

Post by Wynmaiden » December 3rd, 2012, 10:19 pm

Awake in Starlight
November 28, 2012

Pitter-patter
A song of crystal raindrops
Break and shatter
Reaching past the treetops
Sure to slip on paths we’ve led
Falter and I’ll fall instead

Through the storm and chain, against the rainbow-pane
Footsteps breathe the garland star
Awing with no sky, yet the ashes won’t die
And our dreams have dreamed life afar

Pitter-patter
Our time now seems so fleeting
Break and shatter
On the song retreating
Faerie dust spread on the road
Sweetly to the skylight flowed

Through the heart alight, amid our dancing sight
Footsteps brush the tears of time
Aware in the gloom, yet our hope fades the tomb
And out of the darkness we’ll climb

Alone, we think we face our fears
The wink of dusk and shadowed aches
The love that gives and never takes
When starlight crossed the path of tears

Alone, we think we bear the sword
The rising wind and tang of blood
The hope that blinds the cursed flood
When starlight brought our home restored

Softly and softer together, we’ll weep
A shade of our past, amid lilies asleep

That by knowing Me here for a little, you may know Me better there.”

Beautiful, sad and fleeting, I liked the structure, repetition and concept, you create such a fragile atmosphere with your words, very taken, meadow

I was quickly immersed into this poem, you did a phenomenal job at engaging the reader through very minute details that were incredibly clear and tangible. I love the wordplay of "rainbow pane," how one may expect "window pane" (and that it has the same amount of syllables and same -ow ending) but instead there is a unique different word (that is very concrete). The repetition and alliteration were great aspects of the poem as well. Congratulations on the spotlight, this poem is great!!

Now I dove straight into this with a smile. So much beauty in the way you weave your words. Enchanting and ancient in its collective charm. Apart from structure and word choices, the quirky rhyme theme and line size changes with the mood of the piece, yet this is in tune with the theme overall. Love it love it love it!

I, too, was caught by your change of rhyme themes and how the line length changed with the mood. Loved the repitition of if. Very clever presentation. I can only reiterate what has been said. A beautifully crafted piece well deserving of "The Spotlight".

Congratulations on the spotlight pick! It is a wonderful piece, so gentle and delicate... Your rhymes are nothing short of amazing! The diction is so beautiful, this piece deserves to shine here... This write is lyrical it almost sings to you as you take in the lines. A well deserved choice!

This has such a beautiful sound to it, the sonics of the very words make this a real pleasure to read, and lik SirFW I found myself diving right into this without hesitation and also with a small smile. This is very much deserving of a place in the spotlight. Wonderful work.

This poem just captured my imagination, and the frame work with which you presented it, was just beautiful. So wonderfully done. Thank you for sharing.

This one of the most beautiful poems I've read here. It reads like each of the images has the possibility to be its own story.

I think you poured your heart out on this one. There are so many beautiful lines that are practically poems by themselves. 'A song of crystal raindrops/break and shatter'' and 'faerie dust spread on the road' and 'footsteps brush the tears of time' are my favorites.

Wonderul poem! And I'm so glad I got the chance to read under the Spotlight.
It has such profound aura to it, taking a snapshot of the past penning it with the effect of the present.
Again, wonderful work! Congrats!
