These words possess a blinding light.
So my sorrow will always create the darkest shadows.
For that, my ink is always strong
And not bound by limits.
It is a gift with the curse of
Not knowing how to enjoy it.
Casting life in the
Tranquility of ones own pain.
Art is insanitys bedroom.
I never sleep well, mind you.
But there was a time i could dream.
Oh, and how I dreamt...
I want to recognize myself again
Inside of the ink,
On the outskirts of my words,
And beside each sentence
To one day die inbetween the lines.
Take what you can from it,
While I figure out what it is I have to give.
You could never anticipate
The number of stones in my pockets.
But you are better then me
Based around that fact alone.
Find me at the rivers edge where
I will let my spirit dance
At twilight, submerged.
You will always follow the footing
To deaths dance well.
But lifes everchanging tune
Will leave you stumbling.
Respect your aching feet, leaning heart.
I once used a lovers eyes as
A crutch to stitch beauty together that
Is not and never was my own.
I know no shame in knowing now
I ttanslate sadness but clothe it
In whatever love I could muster.
I know I loved well...
This ink would lose me
If I never learnt how to treat
My pen as an ore at times.
It is not land you seek.
It is the end of this poem,
Where one will rest on an ellipsis
And carry forth into another..
And another.. and another.. and another..
So let some inch of sorrow
Rust against the happy thought
Some piece of me,
No matter how small will know
Little of the weight to these stones
And know nothing of death.
Some parts of us are forever...
So my sorrow will always create the darkest shadows.
For that, my ink is always strong
And not bound by limits.
It is a gift with the curse of
Not knowing how to enjoy it.

Wow! That's stunning for sure!
I was really taken by the intriguing thoughts you portrayed here, and the imagery that was blended with deep emotions. There are many aspects here with many angles to consider, like that relation between the author and the pen, how to live this life before your ink runs dry, along with personal sentiments that accompany us throughout our lives.
Brilliant OM!! Thank you much for sharing!

A poem for poets, not only because of the overt theme, and the way it manages to pay tribute to the depth of the writing process for many people, but because of the way the speaker manages to describe their world in a way which could be anywhere, because their world is where their pen lies.

Re: Late Night And A Need To Fill A Page
Wow, thank you all for the kind words.. I've been in spiritual turmoil.. some of which I hope I can properly translate into my poetry which i would like to take the forefront in my life once more. I never stop missing it.. but my own self doubts and constant distractions and stress in the world have kept me shying away from it. I hope i haven't lost my touch too much! I'll make it an effort to be around more.

I can't find words to properly address this work of art.The weaving and texture of words, the ability to make me gasp in awe, just a mind bending poem. You should write full time and never stop..I mean it..The Spotlight shines on you..T..

Re: Late Night And A Need To Fill A Page
There have been times when I have been too close to poetry, or some other obsession, when I have felt this way, or something like it, and I've needed to take a step back. Well done for the spotlight.

Re: Late Night And A Need To Fill A Page
Upon re-reading this one a couple of lines particularly stood out to me:
"It is a gift with the curse of
Not knowing how to enjoy it."
I think that is something I have been particularly feeling lately myself, so it resonated with me.
This is penned with a lot of spirit and open honesty, making something deeply personal connect with the reader.
Congratulations on the spotlight.

I'm at the belief that no two writers write for exactly the same reason, although there are similarities, our motives vary as snowflakes in a blizzard.. This poem shows the gap between the writer and the words, and it shows it with images that speak to anyone who picks up a pen. Lovely write.

Astonishing. My poetry stems from the depression I find myself carrying around so I deeply sympathized with this piece.
