Monday is a marble-break: teeth-ground shooters
Rolling tight under your tongue. It’s better than this silence or
My one white pill. Morpheus is promising I can choose:
A rabbit-hole stumble, with pocket-watch confusions
Or emerging-- a breath kept too long—to a chlorine surface
streaked with sun. I’m sorry I called the school and lied
about being brain-dead or an amputee or just too tired
to hold a pencil. It’s February, it’s the feel of my bedspread,
thick and too heavy to lift or want to. Tomorrow will be better?
Don’t talk about the missing, or miss the talking,
We've got enough fresh scabs to tend here—
Have a bandaid, darling, they’re going cheap.
Low-caffeine headache, coffee-high tremor,
I can feel the sand on the roof of my mouth inside
My eyes, don’t blink, I let the moment go
Home. It’s a voicemail, a stomach knot, I can’t
Listen to either. Hit delete, unstick your throat,
A thick swallow. Hollow. Recline, sticky-eyed,
Bulbous, sick. Tomorrow will be better?
Close the shades, it’s twilight. Close the shades.
It isn't worth it right now.

Re: Monday's Blue(s)
Oh gee! You get me every time. Just as a small side, I LOVE the Matrix reference right there.. I've been taking issue with Trinity, with anyone that will hear, lately. Heh.
But anyway! Back the poetry. And damn, it is fine poetry on display here. It's the monday blues alright, but it's as though every day is monday for this speaker. The light of day just too much to bear, maybe tomorrow, maybe the next. But forever feeling unattached, and rough as hell.
Wonderful work. Enviable work even. Thank you for sharing it.. I might have to have a go at some of these prompts.

This is my absolute favorite, hands down! I love this bite in this piece... these lines here just over the top perfection! I’m sorry I called the school and lied
about being brain-dead or an amputee or just too tired
to hold a pencil. It’s February, it’s the feel of my bedspread,
thick and too heavy to lift or want to. Tomorrow will be better?
Lil and I are like school girls fighting for the spot of number one fan! Two girls, both with the suberb taste...
Bookmarked for sure!
Love this!

Re: Monday's Blue(s)
This really sets up the mood for the blues ...Especially the Mundays ... Loved the 1st verse ... It had an 'Alice in Wonderland' flavor to it... Good job!

Hi..I really liked the trippy wording, it had a bit of hip hop flavor, the way the words just hard hitting streamed on.Very original..Great highlight choice..Tangie..

Spence,
Just a wonderful way to engulf about every reason for "Monday's Blue(s)". Man ... you're better than Ferris Bueller! Seriously, your references to "The Matrix, to Alice in Wonderland, too tired to hold a pencil", just super word usage. I love it. I missed this the first time around, but so glad I caught here, in the Spotlight, right where it belongs! Congrats, my friend.

it's the voicemails & the emails & the cuts for which they don't make enough bandaids. & it's the urge to be productive. & it's the coffee. it's really the coffee...

Re: Monday's Blue(s)
I know this feeling for sure, but have never been able to describe it with the poetic flair on display here! It's almost saddening that something so filled with the blues should make me smile, but that's only a testament to the quality of the poetry - plus, monday miseries like company! I love how this started out so flowing and expansive, and much like the content, every last drop of enthusiasm faded into staccato, too-tired-to-speak, malaise.
Excellent work, congratulations on the spotlight.

Re: Monday's Blue(s)
It's like you gathered up the various sentiments held world wide and melded them into one understanding of what Monday can be like, but more, life. Congratulations!
