trees in their umbra nakedness
singing soft hymns on the lulling breeze
hiding their sprouting gold
while the snow dances on weakened leaves.

dormancy covered frozen and alone
shrouded within a opaque crystal haze
falling into a glossy sleep
entering an astounding chilly bliss.

the mountains rejoice in this greeting
replying to the snow-flakes call
with blowing winds and servants never seen
carrying these winterly sprites.

as they fall like diamonds to the welcomed earth
trumpets call as the blizzard speaks
releasing her sparkling tears
carried upon the lips of night.

within the white spirit of an angel's heart
sings a song of the first born snow
with each flout and flit of her wings
plays as the soul of bard on strings.

under this cotton blanket
lay the whispering words of time
as the snow fell
fairies sang their joyful curious rhymes.

This is just breath-taking! Wonderful, wonderful word usage that allows this to flow, like the gentle snowflake that are falling. The imagery here makes me feel like I am standing outside catching those first flakes of Winter on my tongue. Just simply beautiful. Very peaceful and calming. Enjoyed the read. Glad you shared this with us.

This piece had a very fantastical side and also an erotic side.
Well rhymed and great construct.

Congratulations on the spotlight, this was definitely deserving and I wish I'd found it sooner. I love the color choice which only adds to the cold and oddly whimsical feel this had. Stunning piece of work dear!

Congratulations on the spotlight pick, it is much deserved! I am lucky to read your work fairly often and I am a big fan. I love how you weave so many elements and images into one piece. You always have that dark/beautiful element aspect to your words, every time the finished piece is gorgeous and leaves this reader thankful she is gets to read to your work often! Love it!

I concur..elegant in form, and reminded me of going back to read in my vintage poetry book, where one is stunned by the visuals created.This kind of writing is what I live for..and your spotlight is here..Tangie..

Oh! Mega congrats on the Spotlight! You make such great use of imagery and poetic phrasing in this piece, it was quite the capturing read. I particularly enjoyed the focus on objects, I know that sounds silly, but it really is the smaller details that make the difference sometimes. Super fine poetry!

Every line conjures up an additional aspect of the winter scene and "spotlights" the final picture. Hence your achievement for this Spotlight. Congratulations.
