Re: When the Object is the Subject
This is dramatic stuff. Do I hear a man accuse his wife of it being her own fault that he hit her? Afterwards she cries in her pillow.

Re: When the Object is the Subject
I love the clever play on 'subject' and 'object', this is heavy stuff, something doing something to the thing itself, maybe with the help of outside effect as well.
Hard-hitting piece of work!

Re: When the Object is the Subject
Just a friendly note to thank you all for reading. This is from something I read. The idea that "you" the subject is really being treated as an object and not a person. It's about the objectification of women in general and those in hurtful situations like this in particular. One of the other folks who helps out with our non-profit works at a shelter as her day job.

Astroannie , this jolted me ..... A small picturisation but with a deep intended effect for a sane emotional person .... Differ as they may , but each interpretation of this shall carry the desired effect. Sharing the object's emotions ......

Re: When the Object is the Subject
Awful subject--brutality of some form against a woman, whether it's beating or rape---but very well penned. Calling attention to the objectification of the subject gives this some feminist strength.
One Haiku=Haiku. Two Haiku=haiku. Not haikus or haiku's. Thank you.

Re: When the Object is the Subject
For me it's the 'iron whisper' which carries so much of the weight here, especially in context with what he says. That metaphor tells us just how his words are spoken, with a mixture of denial and violent accusation, reprimanding her for causing her own pain.
Graphic and emotive work, congratulations on the spotlight.
