Sorry Wrong Number

Post by Forestdawn » November 20th, 2013, 9:33 pm

BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!!
Sherry D. Anthony picked up the phone,
"Hello," She said in a high happy tone.
"Hey Buddy McFee, How ya doin' 'ol pal?"
"This is your friend, from the coast, Big Al."

"I'm sorry kind sir," Sherry said to the man.
"But you dialed the wrong number,"
"The one that you planned."
"Oh gosh, my dear lady forgive the confusion,"
"I'll hang up and make this my final intrusion."

BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!!
Sherry D. Anthony picked up the phone,
"Hello, " she said in a low mellow tone.
"Hey Buddy, say man,"
"Where've you been all these years?"
"Come on over we'll talk and drink a few beers."

"I'm sorry dear sir," Sherry said back to him,
"You've dialed the wrong number all over again."
"Oh my goodness," Al said, feeling real sick,
"I'll hang up right now, and I'll make it real quick.

BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!!
Sherry D. Anthony picked up the phone,
"Hello," she answered in a very harsh tone.
"Hey Bud!" Big Al shouted into Sherry's ear,
"We're having a party we wish you were here!"

"Listen Big Al!" Sherry shouted, "This is appauling!"
"You don't have a clue which number you're calling!"

....PAUSE....

"He's still not at home!" Al yelled to his crowd,"
"I"ll call him back later when the pary's not loud."

BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!! BRRRRRRING!!!!
Jimmy P. Anthony picked up the phone,
"Hello," he said, in a mild mellow tone.
"Sure," said her husband "That I can do,"
"SHERRY!" He shouted, "The phone it's for you!"

Sherry D. Anthony picked up the phone,
And without any word, just a very small groan.
She took the reciever and the unwanted call,
And yanked the phone clean out of the wall.

"I'm tired of those calls one after another,
"I'm sick of wrong numbers, I think I will smother.
Then Sherry and her husband both looked at each other,
"Oh no," Jim sighed slowly. That was only your mother.

Say guys, Have you ever had a prank call that wouldn't take "NO" for answer? Last year, this actually happened to an Aunt of mine. Then I had to write about it. (The names I used in the poem are purely fictitious)

It's a well written poem. It has kind of a Shel Silverstein vibe to it, which I like.

Someone once called me with the wrong number, but the person he was looking for had the same first name as me, so we talked for a few minutes before he realized I wasn't the right person. I feel like with cell-phones and the internet so popular now, wrong numbers happen a lot less often than they used to (which I guess is good, but talking to random strangers for no reason whatsoever can sometimes be fun also...).

bugo:
Yeah, now that I think about it, you're right, it does have a little bit of Shel Silverstein vibe to it. That's cool.
A wrong number can be short and pleasant, or long and down right and rude. I've gotten both kinds. I live in a small town where there are four families with the same last name as mine, None of these families are related.
So I get wrong numbers all the time. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem.

Thanks bunches

Victor:
I totally understand. I've had so many wrong numbers last year, if they were all standing together, I would have two acres of people. I'm not kidding.
Comment appreciated.

Thanks bunches

When some calls, and it's the wrong number, I am polite. If they call back, I tell the person they are asking for has just been arrested and taken away by the police.

Yours was a funny story. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! It reminds me of a comedy skit from an old variety show, Maybe because the phone rang and was connected to a wall. But it has that feel for me. Love the ending very cleaver. Thanks for sharing.

Light hearted with a fun rhyme scheme. Not a Limerick in style or form but an almost "Limericky" feeling.

It makes me appreciate 'caller ID'. How did I get through all those years without it. The experience of dialing the wrong number or receiving a call by mistake is very common, but the game invented by Al that brought him so much satisfaction was an eye opener. The ending was unexpected and a clever way to end the tale. Congratulations.
