Cascade Rising

Post by artists_death » December 11th, 2013, 10:47 pm

Selcouth darkness, timeless old, draws the light into its fold
One dazzle-beam of half-bright light, parting ways before its flight
Wanders in a lidless dream of ancient tales, bright and bold
Wisdom deep in inky wells upon reflection bringing light

For truth the singing teardrops ring upon the stone their lithic dream
Mountain groans with crumbled frown, unto his roots he casts his crown
Summit old with starry flight, now rests its plight in ageless streams
To hush the weary wisdom shroud into the draft its fate to drown

From mountain’s sinks to Autumn’s Spring, the darkness brings its reverie
Rising, twisting, aching need, casting life-sparks to the fire
Scattered pieces laughing free, blown through the winds eternally
Whistle-reeds and tapping trees sing of past-life’s doomless ire

When muddy boots and furry feet on banks of earthless rivers meet
Passing seamless fleeting thoughts, the goers flee the trail’s dust
Until the seekers sleeping form reclines on springlike moss so sweet
Hope well springs of dapple-day, until the lot does what it must

This is my kind of poem. Wordy, slick, it reads smooth and leaves a chilling, stunning and impactful image with each line. Love the rhythm, it reads effortless, the delivery is strong and plays nicely with the tone - sets up a vivid stream of nature in motion.

Fascinating and swift, it could've kept going in my opinion, without hindering or feeling long. Just amazingly delivered, the flow was slick and just poured relentlessly. Nicely done!

Surreal blend of earthy imagery and ethereal notions...I really liked "whistle reeds and tapping trees sign of past-life's doomless ire"...that line sent my mind drifting. Beautiful language and remarkable form...the extended meter was nicely broken up with bits of inner rhyme here and there. Very pleasing to speak aloud! - dew

This kinda read that satisfies the mind with, I'm gonna use Dew's word 'surreal' imagery. It was loaded with wonderful images, along with seamless rhyme and rhythm. It deserves a lot of reads to capture every description, and it felt like jumping from one subject to another in a crafty way that linked the stanzas together.
Brilliant piece and much enjoyable work!

This has an old world feel, the way it sounds, and the drawn out rhythm. I imagine this is a poem about a river, but not just one part, all of it, the parts we see and those we don't see.

Make fellow poets happy and comment on their poems.

I liked the breadth and scope of this, and the way it's not afraid to make some demands on the reader's imagination. It reminded me a lot of Coleridge in its tumultuous vision.

Well deserved spotlight! The longer line structure and use of rhyme became subtle and almost incidental to the archaic feel of something the reader believes is pre-ordained, I thoroughly enjoyed your inventiveness mx

Lidless dreams and singing teardrops cast a spell on written words, of timeless times and crumbled peaks, cast down and scattered beyond the known. Still pondering these thoughts and fathomless images you've created in this marvelous piece AD, cheers!

A real beauty - an ancient chant over a late night fire. A mystery
brew in a kettle of wisdom.

Yes, well-deserved award and ready to be worn on the printed page,

I enjoyed this the first time, and same goes for this time. A compelling read that makes the reader pay attention to every line, every image, and enjoy it all.
Congratulations on the Spotlight!

Your words have left me awestruck, and that seldom happens. Your piece was extremely vivid in a complex sort of way, and had a surreal feel to it. I fully understand why this has been spotlighted. Every letter deserves to be read and re-read.
