Skinny Dipping
Post
by karrie » January 21st, 2014, 8:15 am
We shed our clothes
as we shed our secrets,
in hushed whispers
to naked trees
that have become
our confessors,
they will keep
our secrets safe.
We have found absolution
in the witching hour
as bare tree limbs point the way
with crooked arms held high.
We become light
as we move
through shadowed spaces.
We hear the call of the wild
and the beating of our hearts
as we take the plunge,
hand in hand
into shivers.
Graceful,
we slice
through cold black
and silence
deeper,
deeper,
until our lungs are scorched
and still
we dive.
Our bodies buoyant,
we float,
exhausted
to lie upon
glistening reflections of stars.
We are baptized
in moonglow and pond water
to become divine.

ok, lets go!! There is such a sense of secret union, of personal trust, understated passion and the glow of life with nature in this. I adore the way you have incorporated the surroundings, as if synchronous with the participants, and of course, all done under the shading light of the moon. Just the dream that was needed in these horrible cold times, a divine thought and image. Gorgeous my friend, absolutely gorgeous.

wondrous journey here, karrie, and I love the way you
dive into buoyancy - reminds me of my recent trip to
the Dead Sea in Israel where that is factually true!
And lying upon that glistening reflection of stars -
like a beach - to be baptized in the moon's glow
and pond water - what a fresh beginning!
Great imaging.....drew

You are so sensual karrie. Plus, this piece is very beautiful woven and written. I always enjoy reading your words in poetry. You are very economical in your precision of imagery as usual. I see brilliance in your thoughts because you lace deep metaphors in colorful descriptive langue that pleases the pallid of all readers alike. Enjoyed....

Erotic class. I appreciate how you wrapped things up in divinity. Otherwise, the special touch would have evaporated. This is quite the addictive poetry one would come back to again and again.

Love the poem. It's been years since I went skinny dipping and have probably seen far too many horror movies with ponds in them to relax long enough without the thought of something "dark" about to happen to my tender bits. lol How enchanting to write a poem about this topic without pouring some needless "OTP" sexy moments in it. It's quiet, private, and with the sound of crickets and rippling of the water... all-around this is pretty to imagine. Thank You
