CINNAMON & SAGE

CINNAMON & SAGE
January 4, 2014 at 5:15pm

Let the words of solitude fall to the floor
And find new ways to open the door
Let my hunger fill up that pristine blank page
With colorful words of cinnamon & sage

Let the day begin with soft lips pursed
And my face against sweet breath first
Let the night end with curved arms around
And my body bursting with a soft lusty sound

CHORUS:
Cinnamon & sage is all that we ever need
Time moves fast, no time for hearts to bleed
Cinnamon & sage, blossom and seed
Love fades away, so come on and take the lead

Let your eyes burn into my fragile mind
To watch over me when you I can't find
Let my hand touch you with soft evening shade
And hope that our love will never fade

CHORUS:

Thank you, Dornicks! Actually this song was a tiny bit inspired by Shawn Colvin' Cinnamon Road. (Pop/Folk)
I have a country flavor song I'm posting today called 'Baby, Hold on'.. So keep an eye out for it...
I'd really like to return the flavor,, favor and read your work.. Any suggestions on which one I should look at... Thanks again!
Happy 2014..

I read 'Baby, hold on' before, and I enjoyed it a lot.
This was rich with wonderful imagery and put in soft lyrics - made me smile all along.
I really like your style, and this was a great, great song! Love it!

I really enjoyed this. Can I meet you in your inbox because there's a tweak I'd like to suggest but critique isn't permitted here.

If at first you don't succeed, try second, third, or shortstop.

Realllllllly enjoyed the construction of this piece! I like the way it sets up and then delivers a message...and the way the tempo changes along with the tone...there were choices behind the content that show you have some natural talent! Congrats on the Spotlight!!! - dew

Loved the rhythm, loved the rhyme. All it needs now is the melody. This holds it's own just as a poem, but I could feel music as I read it. Hope to hear it sometime, as it captures everything that (in my aged opinion) a song should be.. Congratulations on being Spotlighted.

Norman

hello Lebo,

It is nice to meet you! Congratulations on the spotlight :) I loved these lines of the lyric:

Let your eyes burn into my fragile mind
To watch over me when you I can't find
Let my hand touch you with soft evening shade
And hope that our love will never fade

always, Cat

I'm pleased for you that this piece made the Spotlight. It reads even better second time around and the choice of a folk type tune sounds good. Congratulations,

dornicks

Delicate and fragile in language and expression. There is a youthful innocence within that made me smile throughout. Congratulations. Michael

I like these lyrics a lot. There's something very tender about them. I think it has a lot to do with the "soft" sounds you used in your words. For example, this line here: "And my face against sweet breath first." You're not using a lot of hard consonants, and that use of sound really the made the piece for me. I can imagine the type of melodies you mentioned with it. Nice work. Congrats on the spotlight!

I love the sounds of cinnamon and sage together and the gentle feel and pace of the poem's rhythm. There is something very soothing about soft evening shade. To sum it up, the poem is romantic and inviting.
