Ocarina
Roasting my emotions on pipes of peace
Unfolding my inhibitions on cushions of fleece
Resonating my thoughts on ethereal overtones
Cuddling my fears inside their laidback zones
I’m entranced
I lounge in a state of sensual bliss
I swim in the lakes of tranquility’s kiss
I dance in the layers of intoxicating air
I yield my soul in surrender’s lair
Aaaah.. I’m there
Roasting my emotions on pipes of peace
Unfolding my inhibitions on cushions of fleece
Resonating my thoughts on ethereal overtones
Cuddling my fears inside their laidback zones
I’m entranced
I lounge in a state of sensual bliss
I swim in the lakes of tranquility’s kiss
I dance in the layers of intoxicating air
I yield my soul in surrender’s lair
Aaaah.. I’m there

Re: Ocarina
This had an intoxicating effect...the subtlety of your references to a dream state...a very careful touch. I marveled over the first line...a wind instrument compared to a peace pipe...to smoke emotions until they are tender! A totally mesmerizing thought. The hazy imaginings involved texture and motion and music...a lovely and calming encounter with your mind. This is immediately a favorite! Wonderful...dew

Hi
What came to mind as I read you’re excellent poem filled with euphoric references was the tears of the poppies. As you know, I can be way off the reservation with my comments. If I missed the mark, just consider the source.
ps, I looked up the word ocarina and it is an ancient musical instrument used by the Chinese long ago.

Nothing other than prayer, meditation and ocarina music can infiltrate my troubled soul and inject peace within, albeit in small doses. {{dew}}.
Please listen to any piece played by ocarina (youtube). You will be mesmerised and enchanted. No missing marks but a lot of gratitude is due you. {{Farkas}}.

There must be a source of peace and maybe inspiration that will curb our growing fears and tensions. I found this type of music to work well with me. The volcano raging within quiets down but can never die.

What a beautiful, tranquil piece you've written.... and music is indeed my favorite art form. There certainly is a genre --and instrument for every mood, as well as to counteract every mood.

Re: Ocarina
I'm fairly certain this poem is all about you relaxing in your gamer chair and playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time for N64.
Maybe not... I enjoyed it regardless! Your ability to convey sense perception is enjoyable- almost as enjoyable as playing the game.

I wish things were as simple as you say, or as fun. Ocarina and meditation have been therapeutic for me, though in limited doses, to seek inner peace after a life full of mistakes and disasters.

Re: Ocarina
Would there be no means for escapism, stress would be on the rise across the world. And what more peaceful means than such beautiful music? A disturbed frame of mind means mental unrest, and we could all do without that. I for one have enough on my plate.

Re: Ocarina
I enjoyed the music of this piece and relate to theme of taking time to let go of it all and find a moment of peace.
I was especially inspired by the ending
"Aaaah.. I'm there".
That created the longing to go "there", and for me, that longing immediately puts the hint of Ocarina tones in the air. I am closer to "there" from having read this.
Thank you, Balustrade.

I pray that each and everyone can find their inner peace, and from that platform try to bounce ahead with zing and zest. It all comes from within.

Re: Ocarina
ahhh, very intoxicating, like taking a drug as is swims through the veins and into the brain and body. I love how build up the sense pleasure and then end with a sigh, letting the reader know that you have achieved it, if just for a while. Very nicely written.

The charm and serenity induced by ocarina music is truly an intoxicating drug, with no side effects.

congrats on spotlight, Bal.
My g-daughter is just learning the ocarina.
She claims she is a hippie soul in a 17 yo body.
Nicely done. well writ.
