BABY, HOLD ON (country)

Post by Lebo » January 5th, 2014, 5:12 pm

A lonely tree stands naked in the sun
It keeps many secrets of men on the run
A single flower can fill up the moonlight mist
WIth the sweet taste of a blue sky vodka twist

The band plays a slow country song
As couples drift & look like they belong
A woman smiles ever so sweetly
As a man longs to be next to her completely

CHORUS:
Baby hold on to the night's summer breeze
Baby hold on cus the moon's in full bloom
Baby hold on to someone strong & true
Baby hold on cus the sunshine will never turn blue

Years have gone by & the same couples dance
Their luck has held up cus they gave love a chance
Give into your heart, there's no room for doubt
A gentle sway of vigor is what love's all about

CHORUS:

I saw the title with '(country)' there, and I just had to click on it - I love country songs.
I love what you did with the first and second verse and that laps of time and still nothing has changed but only old things grew stronger, and how to take that as a live example of love. It's beautiful; the message, the way this was put- it's so country.
Wonderful lyrics!

Thanx Sash for your wonderful kind words .. I like a little bit of country & really find it really fun to go countrified sometimes. Actually, friends & I are doing a theater event called: Cowboy Poetry & Tales Night on 1/25/14 at our local coffee cafe ... I hope to read or sing this tune and also perform a poetic skit loosely based on the characters of Tom Robbins' "Even Cowgirls get the Blues". It should be a lot of fun.. Thanks again for checking out Baby, Hold on. Happy 2014!

I liked this a lot and feel it deserves a country hat. Good luck at your theatre event and thank you for sharing this,

Initially had me thinking of the hangin' tree but that soon changed with the honky tonk feel, and a fine message for all lovers across time Lebo, cheers!

I can hear this song, hope you don't mind if I put a little music to your wonderful lyrics. Just for my own pleasure of course. Great song writing, keep at it for sure.

It's so good to see this one here!
I so enjoyed reading it for a second time; it's smooth, has great lovely narrative, and it's so well composed!
Congratulations on the Spotlight!

After reading this lovely little piece, I find myself wishing I could hear both your rendition and jsol's rendition! Thanks for sharing this smooth, flowing piece. I really liked the line "As a man longs to be next to her completely" as I feel like I can relate to that intensely deep longing.

Very well done. Great combo of rhyme and meter.
Enjoyed the lyrical sense of the piece.
Congrats on the Spotlight. Deserved.
