I knew you from a distant dream
The sweet streams cry out
The dumb rocks perspire with dew
My heart flutters in your comely grace
You're more beautiful than the flower
And more sweeter than the nectar's burst
Your scent lingers thro' the wild breeze
Your hair escapes thro' the sad light
The blue moon dies on your lips.
Petal threads blew unannounced
It seems like the stars has kissed you
It seems like the fading light
And those wide brown lips trembles
Thro' the twilight songs of sweet lyres
Your words hold a certain sweetness
But my tongue is dumb as the rocks
Dumb to the long drawn kiss of your eyes
To but whisper a simple word
A swooning word of love
Before the morning light may spring
Before your hastening feet retreats
Down the dusty street
Where the fragrance shoots.
I knew you from a distant dream
The strangled notes of the sea
It died, then gave whisper to your name
The stars a laurel to your head
Your scarf on the lantern seas
My heart is clasped against yours
And then it beats soberingly fast
And then it breathes.... slowly
With love's tenderness.
I knew you from a distant dream
The dying night bled its frost
The popular shops shuts abruptly still
And the busy streets goes to sleep
I've sank my eyes upon you
Drowning in the last fulgent light
Of your sacred adoration.
I want you like the wild round grapes
That wavers in winters seasonal bloom
When the stars would rise and fall
On the quivered slender hues
Parked profoundly on the floor.
There's a flame that does exist
It burns sweetly upon my dreams
There's a pulsating joy you draw
From the roots of my sorrowing heart
But I in this cold wild earth kissed
Your cinnamon lips
And in your pleasant arms
Wide awake
Only to die again.

Elegant and beautiful, this had a flow that was song-like in quality and a very pleasing rhythm to it. Very much enjoyed this piece.

Your power has the entrancing quality of a magic spell, so full of beautiful imagery and sentiment, very well done.

Very impressive indeed. I found the images to be concrete and anchored the piece into the tangiable. So often love poems get lost in the clouds, yours didn't. The imagery acted as the driving force behind the poem for me, great work!!

Re: I Knew You From A Distant Dream
When a reader clicks on a piece of writing, they are quietly hopeful to find something that will touch them in some manner. Many can write pieces that rhyme, many can write pieces that flow, and many can write pieces that say something concrete. But it takes someone with a certain inborn talent to present something that lingers, something that contains a phrase, that remains in the mind, in the heart long after the read is completed. You have that ability and it is something to cherish and nurture. There are (however) some small areas of tense usage that need to be corrected. Other than that, you write very, very well and I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely piece.
" I knew you from a distant dream
The strangled notes of the sea
It died, then gave whisper to your name
The stars a laurel to your head
Your scarf on the lantern seas
My heart is clasped against yours
And then it beats soberingly fast
And then it breathes.... slowly
With love's tenderness."............................I take this away with me.

Re: I Knew You From A Distant Dream
Thank you very much Mike for your very kind review on my work. Yes I concur with what you are saying and reiterate that point that it is so easy to get lost in the clouds. But thankfully this one as all my other love poems, is compact with imagery intertwined with reality and sound emotions. Thanks again. Cheers.Mike6 wrote:Very impressive indeed. Re: I Knew You From A Distant Dream
Your title is very catchy and I like the way you use it throughout your poem. My favorite part:
I want you like the wild round grapes
That wavers in winters seasonal bloom
When the stars would rise and fall
On the quivered slender hues
Parked profoundly on the floor.
The words mingle in such a way as to create a feeling of passion. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on the TPS Spotlight recognition.
