Turn Away?
Post
by nothingtohide » January 13th, 2013, 3:51 pm
Today somebody extinguished my light
Don’t cry for me
their words can’t touch me
their hands can’t hurt me
Don’t grieve for me
I know you didn’t want see me
let alone be me
I watched you pass me
looking down
It’s ok
I forgive you
My heavenly Father
embraces me
Today somebody threw away my life
don’t forget me
please find me
take care of me
bury me
I know you glanced
at my poster
and walked by
glad not to be me
It’s ok
I understand
My heavenly Father
waits for me
Today somebody took what’s dearest to me
don’t stare at me
my bruises so dark
my pain so real
my fear so deep
I know you saw
him strike me
you looked away
afraid to intervene
It’s ok
I get it
My heavenly Father
cares for me
Today somebody saved me
I’m safe now
a whispered word
a gentle caress
a last breath
I know you’re sorry
you didn’t help
everybody thinks
someone else will
It’s ok
I was scared too
Today my Heavenly Father
came for me.
He carried me home
I feel so safe, so warm
I’m not scared anymore
I hope next time you’ll
feel brave
take a stand
have something to say
You’ll be ok
with my Father beside you
No regrets, emotions captured with pen and ink, expose this soul for the world to see.

Powerful poem written from the voice of powerlessness. The element of forgiveness
at the end made the message strike that much deeper.
Excellent write.

This is a deeply emotive write; to see a speaker playing the role of someone neglected, abused and killed in what seems like callous circumstances, yet ask for no pity or concern, even showing understanding to those who only care that it isn't them in that position, all because they feel so safe in the knowledge they are loved by God - that is a breathtaking sentiment.

Such a forgiving voice from a person that had suffered so much and no one came to her aid, your faith amazes me! This is a well penned piece, a difficult and painful subject - but you handled it wonderfully! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you for the beautiful comments. I still feel so lacking when I post on here, but all of your support helps. This write was definitely about the callousness I see around me. People are so busy with their own little lives they don't seem to stop and look around them, see the people who are truly in need. Most importantly I wanted to give voice to those who lack one. To try and give a different perspective. Thank you again for the privilege of letting me share my work here. And thank you to all of those who take a moment to read it.
No regrets, emotions captured with pen and ink, expose this soul for the world to see.

Its hard to endure the indifference of people, or that our truth is not known by anyone, except God ...
She told me to live.
Speak of the lonely.
Time is an invitation.

Isn't my mom a great poet, ya'll? This is certainly one of my favorites out of all her poems that I have read. Go, mom!
Love is like dying, only the pain doesn't stop. Music is salvation, lyrics are an outlet. The sound of a guitar is Life itself.

This has a very interesting quality, like a chant of a sorts, even a prayer. I found it very moving.

I think the poem's evolution from pain and suffering into the arms of your saviour is quite beautifully written.
