Just One More Sip For Peace.

Post by MusicMyLife » January 5th, 2015, 8:51 pm

Don't play with my emotions
you're delivering too many blows
playing with God and my heart
dancing on the picture frames
that contain snapshots of honourable times.

I look at you
and shake my heavy head
yes I'm hungover
and drank to excess
and never made it to bed
slept on the dusty couch
with a thin blanket
and a few painkillers
surging my bloodstream.

The hideous sound
of a screeching voice
pounding through me
like a stampede
you're leaving me
you say
well I deserve to be alone
and connected to wire of misery.

The backdrop
looks hazy
the room is swirling
and I'm cradling a bottle
just one more sip for peace.

MML - been there and back, and eventually you'll get tired of paying the price, hopefully before she does. Be well and cheers! Sounds like the music has died inside...

I liked the poem. Myself, the sips don't bring peace so much as anger and remorse. I look forward to reading your other poems.

Chiming in as a third who's been there and back again. The speaker's anguish is clear in this piece, especially in lines like "well I deserve to be alone \ and connected to wire of misery." I think many readers will be able to relate to this... Here's to hoping this write was helpful to process these emotions.

Alcohol does not really change us, but this propellant does seem to show us many different sides. Sometimes we like them more, and others times we want to punch them in the face. But, the whole process can encourage us to reevaluate ourselves, and that’s not such a bad thing. We can lay beside ourselves, or stand up in ourselves, and that’s all up to us. I too, have been there and back, more than a few times.

:WARNING:
Vodka and Vicodin can be a gate-opening combination!
