If ever you walk Saint de Vale’s sand beach
and see the seagulls winging low the waves,
or feel the rushing cold surf break and reach
your feet then you’ll smell ginger close to caves.
Cliffs hold back surging waters white with foam
their whitecap spay e’er hiding caves large holes,
where pirate Jean La Feet hid gold in dome
within the maze that’s taken many souls.
La Feet had plundered wide the Spanish Main
his treasures placed in secret chamber place,
and woe comes yea to those who seek in vain
to find the passage holding old coins’ case.
The beach is pleasant walking every day.
Think nay to enter gold coins water way.

Re: A Pirate's Cave
Welcome to TPS RF and wondering where St. de Vale might be with such cold surf and caves (that leaves out the Carribean I'd guess). Jean Lafitte was one of the legendary ones too. Wonder if the treasure is still waiting to be found, because the government would probably want to confiscate most of it. An interesting tale and always enjoy reading anything nautical. Written with a sense of foreboding for an ancient curse of evil protecting all pirate's loot perhaps. Cheers and well done!

Re: A Pirate's Cave
Tales of pirate treasure are always good to spark the imagination. I'd guess the angst lies in the fact that the treasure is forever out of reach. No doubt, it is all for the best.
Thanks much for sharing.

Where else can you go to be transposed to the excitement of hidden pirate treasure these days. Thanks for bringing this, a pleasure to read, and the delicate touch of old English always a pleasure. Congratulations on the spotlight. Loretta

Re: A Pirate's Cave
I'm a sucker for pirate tales as most will probably tell you. Shame that some of them were hanged or worse. Some treasures were never recovered though. o.O

I really like the ending couplet. I like the imagery here. Congrats on your spotlight!
