Why did I look?
Why is it so hard to look away?
If I needed a reason to change
I just had beauty step in front of my train
And time froze…
Everything just stopped
Blades of grass forever bent in the wake of her apocalypse
The harsh fever of life broken down into a portrait of solitude
The only echo is the last beat still bellowing from my chest
And it has echoed for some time
Sirens now pierce the fall backdrop sending a bending ripple effect through the scene
Leaves suspended in freefall are shattered…and then turn to dust
Death brings to life…and then death again
And she stands there…blue eyes fixed…an innocence returned
Rusted tracks of pain and timeless servitude have never had a moment like this
Taking a breath for the first time as she stepped over their rigid steel frame
They may have forgotten their purpose for a single moment
But never did they dream…
A light like hers…
Could stop a reckless purpose as powerful as Blaine the Mono
Then came the rain
Rolling in dark blue and green clouds like an impending tidal wave
The orange, reds and yellows tattering the grey gloom of this place have never been more reflective
Whether from her skin came the sun or the sun came to hers
She became brighter as the darkness pulled its blanket over my eyes
And then the train…and the tracks…and the purpose up until this very zenith…fell into ruin
Life returns to the scene in a violent flash of heated blindness
An angry storm chose me for his wrath
For I had forsaken…and never before had a seen a ghost
My armor came apart piece by piece
Loud canyon crashes heard for miles as decades of false strength break apart and separate
Cars for endless miles behind me…inherited through pain for protection…
Now dismantling into hot metal tinder along the forkless swath between the trees
From within I crash to the hard rocky trail
Knees bruised and battered…eyed lost and red…hands broken and without soul
Kneeling before her once true form
Holding the one rose I still kept
Waiting for her hand to grace my face once again
Return of Grace

Re: Return of Grace
Agreed! this was totally captivating.
Personifying the angry storm was brilliant.
Whether Grace is an actual person or the virtue (grace) -
she or 'it' definitely seems solid ground for changing your ways...
very well done.

Re: Return of Grace
This was a powerful and vivid story. Your descriptiveness was just amazing. Really hard-hitting for me. Thanks for sharing this!
