Twenty Thousand Three Nineteen and Thirty One

Twenty Thousand Three Nineteen and Thirty One

At end of day, when rest has come ,
the tally of her worth was done.
The counters apportion each the sum,
Twenty thousand three nineteen and thirty one.

What accounts her birth, life's dawn begun?
Accrued thru days to old from young.
Her daily work her girlish fun, not in the sum,
twenty thousand three nineteen and thirty one?

Knowledge gained and victories won,
A lifetime's toils not counted one,
Her chattels divide 'twixt son to son and
Twenty thousand three nineteen and thirty one.

What value love, her cherished ones,
True loves, dear friends, beloved sons, not part of the sum,
Twenty thousand three nineteen and thirty one?

What worth a life whose course has run?
Pray she has God's promise won, for a tally of her time was done.
Twenty thousand three nineteen and thirty one.

The epilogue from God spoke thru His Son; those last on earth have heaven won.

Welcome to TPS Kg113! Awesome piece here, and a lovely eulogy to a hard-working Mom maybe, who went largely unappreciated as Mom's can be; in her 56 year on earth before she was called home.
I puzzled out the number on several re-reads. The development was perfect as the poem progressed.
Done with much artistry; she was called too soon. Thanks for this wonderful tribute, and cheers!

This was an unusual eulogy. Normally numbers scare me off, but my curiosity won the duel. Mother's daily work, her girlish fun did not contribute to the sum of her life. The knowledge she gained and the victories she won were not considered. Her life time toils did not count. True loves, dear friends, and beloved sons did not figure in the tally. The only thing that really matters is the grace of God. After all, only God truly knows us. Her faith matters and probably that is reflected in having a son who prays that his mother has God's promise won. I may be off center, but that is how I read the poem. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight.

Moving piece, that made me think of my mom and how I should be a better son, for she won't be here forever. And how i should appreciate her for what she's done with limited resources she had

Pretty solemn write, but very moving. I enjoyed this. Nicely done! Congrats on your spotlight.
