I- Bloodied and Beautiful
Be kind to me for once be calm
Be soft and gentle as a lake
Lapping and lapping the blood of love
The ripples the moonlight make.
'Warm us by the fire here
And stare at its leaping takes-
You and I know of such a thing;
We know what it's like to break.'
Even those leaping flames
Are fused to that hollow log,
A low red glow and brittle roots;
Such intensity cannot burn forever
Thus breaks.
'Has it all burned out?
Tell us a story.'
V- The Blood Rose
My lover gave a rose of glass- of green
And red and gold, and leafs of silver rose
That last wherever love can grow; But clean
Is glass when it is pure, and silver when
It snows, But snow is death that melts the sun
Onto that blood-glass rose. So my lover
Screamed and shrieked and broke the glass of rose, So
Shards of green and white and blood all smashed in
Love's abode; The Green stem glinted, and still
Intact with broken cruel green blows, cried out
My lover give it food and so in love's
Own throes was driven through my drinking heart.
Yes all forgot: A stem in blood can grow.
VI- Lovers' Experience
I took a bite of a poisoned apple and fell
Into a death of dreams, dreams
Of hope and moment-long, fatal eternities.
Many times I've chosen one pure sweet fruit
Of a deep wine-red, and many times I've
Chosen that from which all blood is bled.
'The Universe was made by such loss
Over and over again; lost
Hopes and passions that become dead stars
From the living hearts of men.'
Each love gone becomes a star of guiding silver life
Within a sky of empty death and lonesome treads
In nether flights. They cannot return again for passion's
Spent their journey's end, so far away their
Cries echo but memories' lies- over and over again.
I see a star in the past life, I see it in its
Dying state, and cannot understand how that's all
Gone- forgotten old old fates whose hopes
Still persist on and on throughout dark time itself:
And cannot see my guiding star 'til the very memories are late.
'They'll guide your way these shining stars:
An experienced compass of life's traits:
To find love is angel's luck
And to lose it man's old fate.'
Experience is a name: learning mistakes;
Experience is wasted on love
For experience is used to avoid that curse:
That failure is all Love's fate.
...Oh heart, your words and bringers of hate, within
That hate is love; make your mind
And decide on it- the bloodied and
Beautiful rose bud.

Wow, what a way with words you have. I am impressed. My favorite section was, 'V- The Blood Rose'. I see spotlight all over this piece. Good job.

A striking piece WM that takes me in several directions around a central theme of blood and roses (hey isn't that a band maybe?) The opening was special for me in its unique setting, and the entire work could also have been three standalone poems, but each contributes to the whole in a synergy of images, cheers!

Many thanks for your kind words as usual, dwells. I picked these parts out as the whole poem would be too long, so very glad to hear the meaning of the entirety was still conveyed to the reader.dwells wrote:A striking piece WM that takes me in several directions around a central theme of blood and roses (hey isn't that a band maybe?) Wow, this is really something. I love the blending of archetypes and their attachment to images that bring pain and love to the forefront of thought. "That hate is love.." You do, as a writer, have a remarkable way of placing words to their greatest effect and that is something that always makes for a wonderful game.

Some say my writing style is very archaic, and so I am glad to get a more positive take on it from your good self! Many thanks
