Wanderer (Demo Included)

Post by Baywriter » April 20th, 2015, 1:00 am

This is not really a complete demo, but a recording thrown together tonight. Will probably upload a better copy in a few days. https://soundcloud.com/poetessbay/wanderer-demo1

And here is a live version that I recorded yesterday, but it's higher: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEatoDQ ... e=youtu.be

Wanderer

I turn my pockets into yesterday
I fill them up with memories
and when they’re ripped or torn or
turn up empty
I open up right at the seams

Oh x 8

Turns out I like a long, empty road
I like the dust beneath my feet
I like the feel of the wind through my black jeans
yeah, I like that hollow spot inside of me

So I follow the light of the planes in the sky
and I listen for shadows of voices that come out at night

Where I’m goin’ I don’t mind
Where I’m goin’ I don’t mind
I’m a wanderer
I’m a wanderer

So if you find me, please don’t count on me
I will not wear the lace, white dress
I’m not the girl with the pearls, no, I must confess
I live on unknowns and regret

Oh x 8

I want the space between your lips and mine
I want the vacant subway car
I want your heart, but a part of it must stay gone
I want that hollow spot inside my love

So let’s follow the distant and limitless sky
and let’s be the shadows, the voices that come out at night

Where I’m going’ I don’t mind
Where you’re goin’ I don’t mind
Let’s be wanderers x 4

Great job Bay, I love the word play here which provide a vastness in them that sets the atmophere perfectly for a professional wonderer.

BAY!!!! This is amazing. You brough tthe lyrics to life w/ your music. They literally came walking off the page, or in this case, the screen. I love how you layered your voice, you really learned the guitar quickly and it shows. Your voice is so angelic. You're gonna put that Taylor Swift outta business. Hopefully. ;) Awesome work. I loved this. Very catchy too!!

I really appreciated the recording for this one because even though your lyrics are excellent, hearing you perform them helped to set them in context. You have a powerful singing voice, and it added a lot of energy and emotion to the lyrics so even the parts which read like they were sad actually came across as a confident kind of wanderer - not carefree, but someone content to walk whichever path they end up on in life.
Really enjoyed this one, despite my growing jealousy at how multi-talented you are!

oh Bay! that was beautiful! for some reason, while reading these lyrics, i could see myself imagining and there is this one book that just struck to my mind the very moment i read the word "wanderer". that book was 'The Valkyries' by Paulo Coelho. i love paulo, i love valkyries and i love your song!

Frankly Bay I prefer the "Cloud version" over the you tube one
It comes over much softer and understandable at least to me.
However no one can fault your talent. Awesome does not do justice to your voice or your talent as a poet.

Yeah the cloud version used a good mic, but the live version just has the camera mic, which does not pick up sound as well. But my voice is much less strained in the live version, since the other version was recorded before my voice box healed. :)

Eventually, I'll get a version of this that matches the one I have in my head! ...I just need more instruments and better recording equipment.

Quite a song, for sure! Holds the interest well, has lyrics that pertain to the theme, and flows along quite nicely! Good job!
