Ashore these foreign bards from Virnus came
Meeting Edon’s parchments; musings tame
And treading land, these bards from Virnus gawk
Finding bards (on sand those sit) to talk
“And introduce t’ us muses you invite
Telling boon and tragedy aright
Reciting tales of help and criminals
Joy and frowns in singing requitals.
These muses influence and harbor tale,
Tell us bards how muses sit in scale”
You titan, and for us a tongue make plain
Answ'ring bards who visit; we must deign
A tongue obliged to question, we are bards
To reply; a titan ne'er retards
A bearer bearing tale who voices sing
Always what she-fate presents to bring –
Response to what is heard and what we see
Weeping or t' enjoy or' n anger be
So let us muse for aging intellect,
Knowledge from the heavens to collect.
You bard, and sing: the passionates arrive
Giving naked language; songs contrive
And we are titans, citing rhythmic tales,
Far these verbs disperse like haply gales
In chanting cowardice or bravery,
Sing our minstrels, parting poetry -
Thus so we introduce the grandest muse
That for any rhyme these minstrels choose
So answer you: our intellects enfold
As you marry tongue and rhythm bold.
Invoking titans; binding tale and song
Compliments and insult to belong
On heroes and on villains barking plot
Here those were; the passionates begot
For telling history’ r invented tale –
Laughing or in mourning, stories wail
So foreign friends, receive and we respond
We are muses, seeking age beyond
We, passionate, convert what titans show
None to whom devout in rite we owe
And sit and muse with us, provoking play –
“Let us therefore sing an ode astray:
The song is dead, a poet dies to wish
Its immortal self distingúish
In paper bound in earthéd memory”
Erring verse, a lying elegy
So rather sing; alive’s the breathing ode,
Tending poetry on love’s abode
On gallant the reciting of the heart;
Prosody sets mind and soul apart
“You friends, ere weep or fend you jollity?”
That as glad we feast, oft chanting joyfully –
And mending sadness; script we all distress
Génerous are titans who impress
“Friénds; and if the lover’s muse dispatch?”
Invent we lovely letters, sighing match
“Lovely poem, beauty wanders near
When love sights twain, and hearts demanding peer”
We are lovers – beauty that’s in love –
Intoxicating buds of friends in love.
“For adoration to appreciate
Coming wonderment, a sword of state
In slaying foes, protecting what we love
MUSE! Define a tale told from above
O MUSE! Report t’ us noble letter’d blood
(All that’s villainy is bathed in mud)
Recording all accounts of daring brave
Finding skill; all fond how these behave
In proving worthy to remember’d be –
Let us muse this splendid memory”
You friends excite, and we who influence
And together, muse in affluence!
Now scripting, that in number we are five
“Let us script and we acquaint arrive
In sim’lar number, here we muse with you:
We, your friends, enjoy this interview
Until we in departure must engage.
We’ll relive this memory on stage”
Then friend, thus memory I offer you:
Quill that our ancient muses knew.
“So let this day record as we depart”
Then remembering, to all impart:
And bards, we’re muses, oft requiring muse,
Shared we company in friendship’s truce
“On heaven high and earth below apart
Love and hate in paper always part”
Thus take our song compos’d to heaven then
We will sing on earth this song again –
“Then farewell you, as our endeavors end”
Fair, we bards will always knowledge lend.
Set sail, you bards, and there's the flowing sea!
“Love for muse is never beggary!”
Then go, God guide you to your country back!
Friends, our company that ne’er had lack,
Let you remember everything we said.
“Then as we prepared our boats ahead,
How warm the greetings of those bards we met –
Forward sailing – prompt the sea to let,
A bard of us his honour’d quill abet.
Anon had the treading sea-storm set,
A bard, who with the honor’d quill, began –
Ending tale as ceas’d the sea-storm’s span.”
SUMMARY
There arrived on the shores of the Edonic rivermain (sea) five bards from the Grecum region of Virnus, sporting to acquire knowledge – they found five native Yisrian bards sitting on the sandy beach trying to call muse (find inspiration). They approach them asking them about their muses and how they invoke them, they left thereafter as friends who taught each other the essence of musings and poetry respectively. As the 5 Virnii bards head back home on the boat they sailed with, a storm met them and a bard amongst them began to write with the quill they acquired from the native Yisrian bards, as soon as the storm ended, so did that Virnii bard finish what he was writing.

Re: Poiesis (pentameter)
as I read, I honestly formed an expectation that the bards of Virnus were going to slaughter the yisrian bards. I don't know why...they just seemed to have Viking leanings. A fun read! - dew

Re: Poiesis (pentameter)
Delightfully done DC - with a thoughtful and less considered approach to what we do, apart and together as poets. Much intellect "aged intellect" on display here by the author; "... with heaven's knowledge to collect". Perhaps why so few are fully appreciated in their own time, except by some contemporaries, similarly afflicted.
Liked the opening scene you set with the innovative use of parenthesis to insert and describe the wizened and wonderful beach party of sorts.
Then later the "Erring verse, a lying elegy" line spoke volumes and came as a thunderbolt.
Just super and now pass the sunscreen - cheers! - Dan

Hello Azfar,
Brilliantly and elegantly written - Perhaps, an historic metaphor of the modern times in your group of islands, I think.
Well Done and a well deserved Spotlight.
Thankyou for a stimulating read.
