Hope you don't mind me using an expression often used by us country boys when encountering rare beauty,
SONNY, BUBBA, JUNEBUG!!! ( Sonny-amazed me, Bubba-touched my heart, Junebug-in a word, goddess)

a tangled mass of chromosomes

If I could comment on this again, truly ingenious the wealth of your writing and the elegance of your muse. The sadness, the farewell to the form you conquered through writing, and writing and attending the muse and never tiring to acquire more inspiration to write these wonderful written Sonnets worthy to be commended, and so command I them. I am pleased that even though you may have shown expression of leaving the form, you still managed to write in them, in all what you have written, I've always felt the emotion and more so in this brilliant piece.

The trouble (for me) with form poetry is that it is most often executed so clumsily…

This, however, is an example of the sonnet form beautifully done - I'm disturbed that you might not write another one…

A thin book of sonnets, please :)

The form complements the content. The ease of rhyme makes it almost conversational in style. I could see someone just talking this as they wrote. Awe-some.

If at first you don't succeed, try second, third, or shortstop.

Delightful writing. When done well the sonnet is endlessly appealing.
This one is articulate, measured, and full of warmth and charm.
Nice work, Song!

This is a truly beautiful Sonnet, which is pretty redundant to what has already been said. But it really is gorgeous. To be a sonnet is the epitome of poetry. And so many can write sonnets, in the form that is required, but not with such exquisite language, flow and emotion as you have achieved here. Congrats on the Spotlight. It is so very well deserved for this piece.

Often such strict forms of poetry cause the writer to force out their work and thus the form acts as a restraint- not a facilitator. Your poem, however, flowed with effortless elegance. There is little I can express to elaborate upon it...it was simply captivating. Your unique approach came forth in the personification of the actual poem itself in the form of being its own addressee. This was quite a remarkable skill to weave into the whole work. I am touched truly.

I can't believe this one is over 3 years old now! One of the things I only touched on in my first comment was how pure it is in sonnet form, however for me what really makes the poem pop is how the turn is only the beginning of the resolution stage of the poem. From that line it grows in intensity and each part shows more steely resolve.
A practice exercise... psh.. more like an exercise in poetic brilliance!
Congratulations on the spotlight.

Really nice wording (kinda makes me want to write a sonnet!)

The imagery through metaphor and the similes were great! I particularly loved the infant looking for a lullaby as the metaphor to looking for someone.

And the end rhyme was really neat in how you used a non-English word - I'll have to try that sometime! Great idea.

Let's definitely bring this one out again! Missed it the first few times, but when something is so well written, one just wants to re-read again and again.
