in the fires of the lonely pit
burns away the love you forgot to spit upon -
when you left for glory in the Universe
you forgot to check me for my pulse -

and the crickets cringe at my shrieks
spending time between the open rifts -

feeling tired of using the same motifs
i'm a liar but can't kill this lie i live -
in the dark, your hand i try to grasp
but you're nothing more than scented wind -

demons calling from within my soul
im still choosing if i should let go -
i still shuffle grief and grins and gloom
bested by myselves i fight the bloom -
where's that madness that's supposed to take
all my senses, all my memories, all that fate -
it has promised me release from all this pain
but it only brought me more shame to my name -
in the darkness, angels try to hug
underneath red lips, tho', i can see their fangs -
paint of white drips down their wings
it's so fake i wonder why they bothered at all -

Soil still tried to eat my feet
but my running's faster then it chews

Congratulations on the Spotlight. The pain in life can drive you daft and blind. It is a way to cope, to wriggle through the slime and come out still breathing. Aptly painful, this read is tactile in its anger, frustration, and angst, as well as a sense of resignation that this is what it is and I just need to keep ahead of it. Well done and much enjoyed.
